"Ugh do In really have to go?!"Shadow groaned " Yes! We are going on vacation to see our relatives!" His father snapped at him "Plus there's a girl on the ranch we want you to meet. She's about your age" his mother said softly to try and lighten up the mood. "Whatever" he mumbled "We are leaving in an hour so get packed young man" his father said pushing him up the stairs.
After about 12 hours of driving they finally made it to the ranch. Shadow looked out the window to see a few trucks in front of the Two story house. They stepped out of the car and just as they did the family stepped out of the house. Shadow and his parents finished giving their hugs and said their 'Hello's' when a girl in a black truck pulled up. Everyone rushed to the truck with bright smiles on their faces. "(Y\N)!" They all said happily as she opened the door "Hi everyone!" She said with a sweet giggle. "Guess what I brought" she said before taking a platter of sweets out making everyone cheer. Shadow's parents dragged him towards her as everyone went back inside "Oh Hi Mrs. And Mr. Hedgehog! It's so nice to see you again!" She said cheerfully as they hugged her. They shared a few comments before her attention was drawn to Shadow "Hi! I'm (Y\N)! It's nice to meet you" She said holding out her hand. He hesitantly took it "Shadow. It's nice to meet you too" he said softly before she held out the platter. "I heard you like sweets so I made you some" she said shyly as a dust of pink crossed her cheeks. His widened a bit to the fact she went out of her way for him. But he took one of the cookies off anyway. "That one is double chocolate chunk. I remembered they were your favorite" she said with a sweet smile. "Thanks" he said softly. He was about to take a bite when he started thinking 'what if they're not as good as the ones back home? What if they're not good at all? What am I supposed to tell her?!' He panicked before taking a bite. His eyes widened. They were way better than the ones back home! "I'm glad you like them" she giggled, she could tell he could by the look on his face. "I made a lot of these so your family can have them" she says handing it to his parents "B-but what about your family?" "Well I like to bake a lot so we have way more sweets then we can handle at the moment" she said giggling once again "well at least take one it'll make me feel better" he said as his muzzle went pink and he handed her one. She blushed and took it "thank you" she said before taking a small bite "Wow! These are good! You have good taste in sweets Shadow" she smiled "Well I gotta go tend to the horses I'll see you later!" She said about to run off "Wait (Y\N)! You should take Shadow for a ride" his mother said with a mischievous grin "Mom" he groaned through his teeth "Yeah that sounds like a great idea! Come on!" She said grabbing his hand and running to the horses
