I got out of the bushes and saw five police cars with their guns drawn and pointing to the front door.

I felt excitement in me as this was the first time  I had ever seen guns up close. A policeman ran towards the porch of the house and yelled,

"Come out of the house now or we'll break this door down!"

The policeman signaled for the others to stand back. Th door slowly creaked open and the suspicious man looking confused. He raised his hands up and placed them behind his head.

"What in the world is going on here?" He hissed.

"We got a call from someone saying you broke into his property carrying a briefcase."

"Excuse me?" the man replied in frustration. The police officer put him I hand cuffs and led him to the nearest police car.

The other police officers went into the house with their guns by their side. The man was detained outside until they brought the briefcase out.

The policemen pointed their guns at the suit case as one of the officers ordered the man to open it.

He got onto his knees and unzipped the zipper.

Eloise squinted her eyes to see what was int the suit case as he flipped the cover over, revealing what was inside.

     Money?

     Knives?

Neither. The briefcase was packed with photos and flowers.

"You!" Eloise heard someone yell. She looked over and saw a police pointing at her, signalling her to come over. She slowly staggered over with my head facing he ground.

"Did you call us up?" the police man asked.

"Yes..." Eloise said squeezing her eyes shut, afraid to face the police officers and the man who was now glaring at her.

"Oh my God...I'm terribly sorry. I didn't know. The van, the briefcase and everything just made it look suspicious. I did not mean to cause any harm... I'm so, so, so, so sorry about everything." Eloise said.

At that moment, Eloise wished the ground would open up and swallow me hole.

"It's alright. Better be to safe than sorry." the man said with a force smile. Eloise saw his eyes water and the guilt just got worse. She apologized profusely, to the man and to the police officers. They all forgave er and told her that it was alright.

I hurried home as the police officers and the man were still talking. I could not help but feel like a fool and feel bad for the man. I turned back and saw the man in tears. One of the officers hugged the man and said repeatedly, "It's okay to cry. Give yourself time."

Eloise could only imagine the pain that he was feeling and she uttered a silent prayer for him.

This incident stayed in her for years and She learnt never to jump into conclusions or to judge a book bye its cover. Secondly, even when times are hard, never give up and eventually everything will be okay if you give it time.
