Riley came to school the next day, a new take on James in her mind. She wasn't sure that she would ever possess an actual crush on him again, but she thought that she could at least tolerate him now. And maybe if he was willing to be nice in return, they could be friends again. Maybe not best friends, but still friends.
But James on the other hand, still wasn't too keen on Riley.
It had came to his mind several times if it was Riley he was talking to in the chat room, but he pushed the thought away each time. For one, if it was Riley in the chat room he was probably the guy she said she hated. But as far as James could remember, he had no knowledge of Riley ever having a crush on him. And secondly, he thought of Riley as being stuck up, arrogant, and "too good" to spend her time on an online chat room.
He passed Riley in the hallway on his way to his locker, rolling his eyes to himself. But when Riley seen him, she quickly excused herself from her friends and walked shortly behind James, following him to his locker. He scowled at her presence.
"What do you want?" He asked, his tone being quite rude.
"I was wondering if we were practicing later today." Riley replied, sounding kind despite James's bitter attitude towards her.
"What's up with you being so nice to me?" He questioned her, narrowing his eyes.
"Am I not allowed to be nice to you?" She inquired.
"Yesterday you were ready to take the head clean off of me, and now you're acting like we're the best of friends? What? Are you on your period or something?" He questioned, shaking his head at her.
"I'm just trying to be nice to you. The least you could do was return it. And by the way, my uterus is none of your business." Riley responded, starting to grow agitated again. Now she was seeing once again why she hated him so much.
"If you're trying to be funny, you're not succeeding." He told her, chuckling a little.
"I don't know why I even try to be nice to you." Riley growled back.
"It's a waste of time babe. Won't make a difference how I feel about you." James said. Riley turned on her heels and walked away, muttering a string of words, most following into the category of swearing and the rest of James's name.
