Hassan POV
As we entered the room, I took a moment to absorb my surroundings. Who knows, this place may be my tomb or worse, one of the others'. It was essentially a smaller version of the Roman colosseum, marble columns surrounded us while the floor was made of sand. In front of me sat Gaia, on a gilded iron throne above a raised platform, while below her was a wooden gate guarded by a steel portcullis.
"Welcome!" Gaia exclaimed, as she stood up and began to walk around her seat. "Take it in children, take it in. I've tolerated your horseplay for long enough. All of us divine beings find amusement in letting you mortals think you can destroy us; then we jump in at the end and prove your efforts were in vain."
As I realised myself into a battle stance, I heard an unsheathing of weapons from the direction of the others.
"This ends now you old hag!" Aiden yelled as he fired a blast of lightning at her seat. Gaia leapt aside as her seat was smashed to smithereens. "Old?' She screamed as the ground shook, knocking us all to the floor.
As we struggled to our feet, the portcullis opened and wave after wave of monsters poured out.
"Remember the plan!" Reyna yelled as she began to charge.
"Ah you have a plan, so sweet and naive. You are adorable." Gaia laughed as she clapped her hands and the ground under Reyna's feet suddenly emerged upwards, her head colliding with the ceiling, knocking her unconscious.
"NO!" I yelled as I rushed over. I could see out of the corner of my eye, Angelica and Aiden were desperately trying to cover me as I rushed over to Reyna.
I could see she was unconscious and barely breathing. As I cradled her in my arms, I felt myself glow red. Sensing the berserker rage coming, I strapped one axe to my back and used my now free hand to pick up Reyna's sword. I quickly started destroying all the monsters before me; I was a whirling storm of death and destruction. Aiden used a gust of wind to blast me up to Gaia's platform, as she attacked me with a knife, I blocked it with my axe and stabbed her through the chest with the sword.
"You fool!" Gaia laughed, "you aren't the descendant of Hector! The sword has no power in your hands." She then backhanded me so hard, what could only be described as a sonic boom rippled through the air. I collapsed to my knees, spitting blood as my ears rang.
As I tried to swing my axe at her again, Gaia wrenched it out of my grip and buried it in my leg. I yelled out in agony, clearly my powers didn't work against my own weaponry.
"I know it's cliche, but any last words?" Gaia asked as she ripped the sword of Hector out of her grip.
"Yeah, a few. Aiden Reyna now!" A huge gust of wind then blasted a newly awakened Reyna towards us. I grabbed her as I kicked out at Gaia's legs, knocking her over. I then shoved the sword into Reyna's hands, and used her like a battling ram to stab Gaia.
Gaia screamed and the air crackled with green energy as Reyna and I flew backwards. "Now what?!" I yelled. "We run!" Angelica and Reyna yelled in unison as we rushed towards the exit.
As we broke out into the cool air, we didn't even notice that very few enemies were pursuing us.
"We are gonna make it!" Aiden yelled as he led the sprint away from Gaia's base.
Suddenly a roar cut through the air that made my blood run cold. I heard a large flapping sound and looked back to see a giant green dragon following us.
"Ah shit, here we go again." I muttered and Aiden laughed, clearly getting the reference.
"This is not a time for jokes!" Reyna and Angelica yelled, in unison again, as we kept running from the dragon, which now seemed to be getting closer and closer.
