/EDITED/
I heard my alarm go off just as I rubbed my eyes.
I was on time, today. Good job, me!
"Lily, you're gonna be late for school!" My mother sing-songed. "Yes, mom, I'm up!" I yelled back.
I got up and got out of my pajamas and went to my bathroom to shower. As that was done, I wrapped myself in a towel and made sure it was secure as I opened my small closet and looked for something to wear. The first thing that came into my mind was; dress. I looked through my hung dresses and found one that I wore on the first day of school this year. It was a black dress that went down to my lower thigh and I found it inappropriate to wear things that end above the knee, so I found a nice pair of black skin-tight leggings and was happy enough.
I grabbed my bag that contained some notebooks, my pencil case, a few snacks and a box of nutella cookies for recess. I also brought my halfway written novel. I dream of becoming an author one day.
I ran down the stairs and saw my mother eating breakfast while shooing a fly that sneaked into our house. "Good morning, mummy!" I said and sat down with her. She smiled and replied and grabbed the scones that was on the spinny thing on our dining table. I saw the Nutella jar at the other end of the spinny thing. I informed my mum that I was going to spin it. She nodded and smiled as I spinned to take my Nutella.
You see, my mother and I are inseperable. Except when I'm at school. She earns money through the Parent Teacher Association Leader thing. She's been the PTAL for another good school in my country, Malaysia, so another school offered her to come and let me study with a scholarship.
My mother was there since my father left when I was 3 months old. He followed his mom and my mum raised me for 8 years all by herself. Then, she met the uncle of my ex close friend. She moved to another school and we had no way to contact her as she moved houses as well. Her uncle's name is Daniel. Daniel Peterson. But, my mother couldn't change her name back to her original one, so she kept it as Lynn Harrison. But now, she married Daniel, so her name is Lynn Peterson.
I went to school as Lily Sanders because my mom said that my birth father, Alex Harrison, was an ex singer, and I was administrated as Lily Sanders because my mother introduced me as Sanders. That's nobody's last name, though. It's a fake. My mother is now married for 3 years already, and I still call him 'Daddy'. He told me to call him 'Father' but my mother wouldn't allow, saying it was too formal and preppy.
My mom never really lets me leave often, as in to long trips or outings. Instead, I call my friends here and we hang out in my basement, the old music room. It was full of guitars, microphones, speakers had a complete drum set (and a lot of different pairs of drumsticks) had a launchpad attached to the biggest DJ set I've ever seen.
My mom always kissed my temple. I never let any of my friends, or male friends, or my fathers kiss my temple. Ever. Me and my mom were the Amazing Duo. You call me, she follows and vice versa. You upset me, she breaks your neck. And, she's the best mom ever. Now, at 15 years of age, I still am in love with my mummy and give her kissies.
Make fun of me all you want, but I love her, she's the best mum in the world.
"Hey, Lily, the nutella is dripping." She warned.
"Oops, sorry." I said, as I spread it all over the toasted bread.I love my mum, okay? End of discussion.
My watch on the kitchen counter started beeping.
"Oh, gotta run! Bye mom, I love you lots!" I said as I snatched my watched and shoved as much of the bread that I can into my mouth and slung my bag onto my left shoulder. It was a sling bag.
