Their pocket dimension was now ripped into reality, Chris could only wonder if this was remotely salvageable as he dropped Udine mindlessly. "So this is what I return to."
"Hey if we were able to beat." Sakuri tried to speak, only to be cut down by Devin's temper.
"No!" Taking a step back and a deep breath, he tried to hold back his emotion. "No, Sakuri, there's nothing to fight for. On top of that! We fought those Devils three on one for the most part, now imagine tens or even hundreds of smaller demons at once.
"While you're right, that's enough." Chris snapped back. "The world can't be all gone."
"Well you're optimistic. In case you forgot we have no weaponry!" Devin's anger being redirected. "And don't tell me you're going to start using magic again."
"I already broke my promise to Amber back in that Hell." Chris' expression became cold before he glanced towards Sakuri. "The end justifies the means as they say."
"All for the girl you met not too long ago." Devin taunted before being punched in the mouth, Salamander falling from his hand.
"We just went through Hell and back, I get it. But you willingly came with me." Chris' truth and technically his fist made Devin silent. "That was a low blow by the way. What I did was automatic when it happened."
The ongoing demonic groans and screeches echoed around the very structure they inhabit. Sakuri, who was once again ready to embrace life, now crumbled to the ground in duress. The air of hopelessness made the silence within torturous. None of them had a plan going forward.
Chris, now noticing Sakuri state, knelt next to her and embraced her. "Sakuri, I'm so sorry. This wasn't how it was supposed to go."
Before she could respond, a flash of white light engulfed the area as a portal formed before them. The portal was clear like glass, but with an unknown figure standing in its center. Dressed in brilliant white robes with a hood, a slender hand emerged from their sleeves. The voice they emitted swapped between many different ones, as if to hide their identity. "You must hurry this way. There's no time to explain here, demon hunters."
Knowing full well that they cannot remain there, Chris rushed down to the war room to fetch his pipe from the old box while Devin tailed behind him for safety. Sakuri, meanwhile, collected and stared at Udine and Salamander while she remained close to the portal. The relics still holding their power as well as her hair clips.
As Chris and Devin ran back down the hall, the ceiling was breached by a featherless harpy-like demon. "Let's go!"
Letting out only one ear piercing scream before being engulfed in flame as the figure extended their fingers into devil horns aimed at the beast. "I will not be able to defend you if more come and they will."
Sakuri pulled herself together and ran into the portal with Chris and Devin shortly after. The area the figure led them to was a grand hall, the walls and floors made out of marble with gold trim accents. In the center of it all was a large stairwell leading to a second floor.
"Well I'll be." Chris muttered in awe as he stared around the vast space. "What is this place?"
"This is your new home, Order of the Exalted Blade." The figure, still obscured in voice and face, handed over a pristine, hexagonal, crystal gem to each of them, fitting comfortably in their palm. "This is a dimensional gem, an empty pocket dimension and my greatest feat in void magic. These will function as your key to your personal quarters. Try them, please. It just takes a squeeze."
"So a mobile base and storage outside of reality. Well let's go I guess." Chris said, squeezing the gem in his hand. Its crystal color glowed orange before a white flash blinded him, sending him into an empty white void. Despite looking like physics and life as it's understood would be unwound, it was just like an expansive box. "It's going to need a touch of me, but it's livable."
Once satisfied with the floor space, he squeezed the gem once more and flashed back into the hall where he once was. Much to the figures pleasure. "I see the trip went well. What do you think?"
"Need some furniture, but roomy." Chris chuckled. "As long as I'm able to send things in there with me too."
"Yes you should be able to transport anything you approve of." The figure answered before opening up another portal. "I see you're in better spirits. Rest up and food will be catered soon. I must find more hunters. The Malum cannot be allowed to win."
