The next day, everyone was running around trying to get ready for the wedding. Xerxes was happy to know his sister and brother were getting back on track. After their talk yesterday, the two were back to their old selves talking shit to everyone while Madison acted as if something was bothering her. Yes, he should have been getting ready for his wedding, which was set to begin in two hours, but his sister needed him.
"Where are you off to with your sexy ass? Because last I checked you have a wedding to get ready for. Don't tell me you're getting cold feet after marrying the same girl two times."
"Aunt Reshma, I assure you I don't have cold feet. I'm happy as hell to marry her again—"
"But?"
"There're no buts. Although I wish we didn't have to go through the shit we did. Riley and I have always been great together from the time we were babies... but I think you know how the rest of the story goes." Reshma nodded her head with a smile, and the next thing Xerxes knew, her hand was running down his chest until he quickly stopped it before reaching his waist.
"You and Nova are just alike. Learn to keep your hands to yourself, please. However, I know I'm talking to the damn wall. Look, I'll see you at the wedding."
"Only if Riley allows me to see you naked later on." Xerxes laughed as he hurried away from the crazy woman, praying that he wouldn't run into Nova next. The Maharaj family was crazy, but they all loved them. "Maddy, you're just the person I was looking for. We don't talk that much like we used to, but I can tell when something is on one of my sibling's minds. Care to share it."
"There's nothing on my mind... I'm lying, and you can see it. Can't you?" X nodded as the woman sighed, taking a seat. He didn't know what to make of it, but whatever it was she needed to talk it out.
"I hate myself for what I did, and I have told you all this a million times, but it's me who can't forgive myself. I don't think I belong here."
"Why would you say something like that?"
"Look what I did to the people who loved me. I turned against you, and you welcomed me back as if I did nothing wrong. You should have taken my head and given my daughter up for adoption, but you and the others forgave me. Why?" Xerxes stared into his sister's eyes with one of his serious looks. He understood what she was saying, but it seemed like she didn't know their family at all.
"Emmanuel had a way with luring people in. He used you and everyone around you. I could have killed you, but you admitted your wrong and proved yourself to us. We love you, Madison, and normally, that's all that matters, and if we thought you were a threat, you would have died two years ago. Therefore, it is time to put that part of your life behind you and move on. Just to let you know, I will not allow you to leave, and that's final. You are a Köhler, and we Köhlers leave no family behind. Get ready for the wedding before you and I are late. I know if that happens, Riley and Melody will have our heads."
