The Outernet

Chapter 5

After lots of struggling, Tyler and Max got me into the moving machine again and took me back to my house.

I'll admit, though I was happy to be home, something about the Outernet intrigued me.

For some reason, though it was always bright outside, and there were no levels or classes, I wanted to go back outside.

Something told me there would be no monsters there either, but there were no respawns, so I would have to be careful every time I exited my living quarters.

But... it made me wonder. How were other people living? Were they sent to the sudden realization that the Outernet was there all along, instead of the confines of their own quarters? When did this happen, was there a coming of age ceremony? Was the king there to attend?? How many people were there? Did I have to do something to see the certain number of people in the total Outernet? Most important of all, what do I need to do to help my mother?

I took out my computer and carefully put some thought into what to write. I opened up the first tab and searched, "the outernet".

A simple diagram appeared, and it seemed like they were putting names on places and objects in town. Was this what the town looked like? Was a "Library" the equivalent of Google? What were all these other things?

I decided to search each and every one of them. Apparently, YouTube was a place where people upload stupid videos of themselves, eBay was something used to purchase items in the foreign currency of this world(whatever it might be called), Amazon was eBay, but for other things, and it had a wider selection including books(hopefully to level up your reading skill?), Facebook was a virtual chat room for your friends, Twitter was used making an announcement to the entire world, and.. Service Providers? It says that it is "a company that provides its subscribers access to the Internet", but would that mean transportation?

I studied the picture more closely, and searched up a few things. Maybe I can ask my mom when the ceremony was supposed to take place, and when I'd meet the king and have the outernet explained. This will all have to wait for later, I suppose.
