Someone knocked on the door and I nearly jumped off the couch.
"Ahh!" I screamed before falling and hitting my back on the hard wood floor.
"Are you okay?" A man asks. I nod, then remember he can't see me.
"Y-yes sir." I said, unsure what to call him. I heard a chuckle.
"We're here to pick you up for a ride to the hospital." He said. I sat up and fixed my hair, putting my hood back on before I stood up and walked over to the door. I took a deep breath and walked outside, some strange light source hurting my eyes. I put an arm in front of my face to block this mystical light generator. I think it was called the "sun". The two men here to escort me seemed fine in the sun, so I put my arm down, examining them.
They were just two ordinary men, one in a flannel shirt and one in a v-neck tee-shirt, both wearing jeans. One smiled and extended his hand to me and I recoiled. He looked at me in expectation and I put my hand on top of his. He smiled and gently shook my hand up and down.
"I'm Max." He said. Max was the one in the flannel. "This is Tyler."
I looked at Tyler and I felt a warm feeling as I gazed at him. He had blonde hair and green eyes and was just pretty.
"I'm Cassandra." I squeaked. I held out my hand to Tyler in the same fashion Max had held his hand out to me and Tyler took it, shaking it up and down then letting go. It looks like this was a custom here, in this place Mother had only told me of as "Boston". Tyler and Max quickly began walking towards a small, metal vehicle on wheels that looked like a thing called a "car" from GTA.
"This is a car." I muttered to myself. I walked up to the car and observed as Tyler opened a door and waited, gesturing.
I walked up to the open door and wondered how you get in. It was obviously too small to stand in. I glanced over and saw Max sit down and close the door behind him. I bent my knees and put my butt on the seat, swinging my legs in afterwards. Tyler grabbed a rope and reached over me and I grabbed his arm, holding him back.
"Don't you wear seat belts?" He asked. I glanced at him and it didn't seem like he was trying to hurt me, so I let go of his arm. The seat belt thing rubbed uncomfortably against my neck, so I put it under my arm. Tyler got in the car and it lurched forward. I put my hands to the opening and felt some kind of force field preventing me from reaching outside of the car as all the scenery ran in the opposite direction as us.
"We were warned she wouldn't be used to out here, but I didn't know it would be that bad." Max whispered, but I still heard it.
So, this place was "out". It's name should be the "Outernet".
