Ben walked out of the room with Jane. As soon as the door was closed and he was sure they were at a spot where Maleficent couldn't hear them, he told her the situation.
"So she's threatening to hurt your family if you don't hand over the kingdom?" Jane asks. Ben nods.
"Pretty much. But I don't know if she'll really leave them alone if I do. It doesn't seem like something she would allow." Ben replies. Jane nods. "So can you find someway to get them back here before I have to sign over the kingdom?"
"Sure. But it might take a while." she tells him.
"How long is a while?"
"Maybe half an hour." she shrugs.
"Good. Do it." he commands. Then he walks back into his office where Maleficent is smiling evilly. He assumes it's because she thinks she's getting the kingdom but she knows what it's really for.
Mal had Aspen curled up on top of her and Alex curled up beside her, both were fast asleep. They didn't exactly understand where they were or why it was scary. They just knew that being magically sent out of their room was a bad thing. She gently ran her fingers through Aspen's hair and smiled to herself. She had never liked the Isle of the Lost but somehow she felt better with Aspen and Alex with her. She heard running coming down the hall and looked up to see Carlos panting but moving quickly to unlock the cell.
"Get out. Go! Maleficent ordered her goblins down here and to do whatever it takes to keep you from going home unbroken." Carlos told her. She picked Alex up but Carlos took him for her. She was worried at first but then saw in his eyes that the old Carlos was back.
"You're back to normal." she smiled. He nodded then they ran down the hall and outside. It wasn't a very fast run since they had to carry Alex and Aspen but didn't want to wake either of them. When they got outside, they had to think. Where could they go for safety until they could go back to Auradon, home. Then they got an idea. It wasn't very safe but none of the other villains would dare go there.
"The beach." the both said. They ran to the beach and into the fog. A giant wall of fog kept the villains and evil sidekicks from seeing the beach. It wasn't a sunny area but no one went there and once you got through the five feet of thick fog, it was clear. They got across and looked out at the ocean and towards Auradon. Mal sat down on the dry sand with Aspen in her arms and kept her warm by wrapping her arms around the little girl. Carlos sat beside her with Alex and they both looked towards their home. It didn't seem like it was quite as sunny, like if they weren't able to get back, something bad would happen. That's when Mal realized what it was.
