I slung my bag over my shoulder as Lynn, Lisa, and Alex followed me out to my car. Throughout the rest of GSA we mostly just talked about our problems and reelected officers. Everyone got the same positions as last year, as expected. When the four of us reached my 1999 Ford Fairlane, Lisa and Lynn shared a prolonged tonsil hockey game while Alex and I climbed in the car. I threw my stuff into the back seat and Alex did the same, plopping down in the seat to my right. When Lynn finished "saying goodbye" to Lisa, as Lisa had to take her own car back to my house, she came over to the passenger side.
"Oh hell no. He gets shotgun? I always get shotgun!" She shouted in disbelief, gesturing to Alex in the passenger seat.
"Oh, It's no problem, I can sit in the back." Alex started, attempting to raise himself to move to the back, before I placed my hand gently on his chest to hold him in place.
"Sorry Princess, better luck next time." I said with a teasing tone to Lynn. She stuck her tongue out at me, then just glared as she hopped in the back, shoving all of our bags to the floor of the car. The ride to Alex's house was filled with Blink 182 songs, and laughing. Between the intense argument between Lynn and I about how she is going to permanently engrave her name on my passenger seat, to my singing capabilities being shown off, it was quite the ride. It only took 10 minutes or so to get to his, and once we did, He hopped out, muttering something about being right back. As soon as his ass left the seat, Lynn was plopping down next to me, with suggestive eyebrows. After a minute or so of me glaring at her, daring her to say what I thought she was gonna say, she finally spoke up.
"You totally like him." She stated simply.
"I do not!"
"Do too."
"Do not!"
"Okay, then answer me this. When was the last time you let anyone besides me sit in your passenger seat, when I was also in the car?" She asked accusingly. I mumbled my response. I knew she was right, I just didn't want to give in.
"What was that?" She snarked, pointedly staring at me, with a hint of mischief in her eyes. I know that look all too well, She is planning something.
"I said, never. I've never not kicked someone out of the front seat for you." I admitted in defeat. Just then, Alex came gliding down the front path to his home towards our car. He had changed into a different sweatshirt than the one he had on before, this one tighter to his body. As he neared the car, Lynn gave me one last smirk and hopped in the back again. Alex opened the door and slid in, almost gracefully, considering his somewhat lanky body.
"They said all is good, as long as I'm home by 11." He spoke. I nodded and put my car in reverse, backing out and heading home. The ride home was a short one, in fact, I probably lived walking distance from Alex, and that meant Lynn did too. I dropped Lynn off at the bottom of her driveway, and then pulled into mine, one house over. She insisted I do so, because she wanted to put on shorts and grab some money to chip in for pizza. We live directly next to each other, that's how we became best friends. When I pulled into my garage, none of my parents cars were home, and neither was my sister's or brother's. That's a little odd, but I'm not gonna question having the house to myself and my friends. I invited Alex in and offered him water, a snack, really anything a good host would do. He declined. I shrugged and walked up the stairs to my bedroom. He followed me, and I was quick to pick up some shit off the ground before he entered.
My bedroom is navy blue with band posters from one wall to the other, with all white furniture. He awed in amazement at my wall of pictures of me with band members, and then a wall dedicated to me and my friends. He walked around my room and gawked at it all while I got the t-shirt I wanted out of my dresser. His eyes were glued to the wall, so I decided to just strip and change quickly. I ripped my current shirt off my body and as I was dong so, it got stuck on my head... and I tripped. Landing on the floor with a thud, I knew Alex now saw me on the floor with a shirt half pulled over my melon. He started laughing and walked over to me, helping me get the shirt over the rest of me. I looked up at him from the floor, and I could almost see him glance down over my less than chiseled chest, and blush. He lent out a hand and I stood up with his help. I apologized through a laugh and threw the other shirt on my body. We stood in my room for another moment, and just made sweet, innocent eye contact as we both slowly calmed our laughing at my ridiculousness. The world seemed to move in slow motion at that moment, as we stood, looking into each other's eyes. Nobody moved, nobody spoke, we just looked. And oh my god, did he look beautiful. His brown eyes seemed to reflect his hair, and make them soft. His face had been clean shaven, but even I could see stubble just starting to poke it's way through. His lips were the last thing I looked at, they looked soft, and he held them in a relaxed smile. Just as I glanced back up to his eyes, I saw them glance down at my lips too. We both knew what would have happened next, if I hadn't heard Lynn come banging in my house. I flinched as she slammed the garage door.
"JACK BARAKAT GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE. I WANT FOOD." I heard her scream up the stairs. I grinned at Alex and lead him back downstairs to be greeted by Lynn rummaging around in my cupboards. I picked up the phone to order pizza, and saw Alex take a seat at my island. He had a faint smile on his lips as he picked at his hands, a smile that he couldn't seem to get rid of, and Lynn looked suspiciously between the two of us. She halted her digging, and just stood up to lean on the counter. She may never know what happened between us, and in truth I don't really know either, but I know is that it was something special.
