The Midnight Game

Before the Game

My name is Kate, i'm currently 15 and I live in the small town of Redwood. My parents usually are busy with work so I'm always home alone. I have a decent size group of friend of all stereotypes.
Lately there has been a lot on the news, apparently many mysterious deaths been occurring for the past month or so. There were rumors amongst the students at school saying it was because of "The Game". Honestly I feel like am the only student who doesn't know about "The Game" but I haven't ask my friends much about it.....well maybe not even mention it.
-Lunch-
Marcia: "Another murder has occurred this week".
Marcia looks down with lifeless eyes.
Jenna: "Honestly I can't believe these people would still play the game even after the many deaths that have occurred".
Marcia: "Yeah, I don't think anyone who played it have even survived the game at all, don't you think so Kate?"
I looked at them with a curious face, these two are my best friends Jenna and Marcia, we been friends for a long time and honestly these two never changed.
Kate: "Honestly I don't know maybe they just wanted to prove something".
Jenna: "Kate, everyone knows that "The Game" is extremely dangerous, no one ever survived".
Kate: "And how do you know?"
Jenna looks at me with an annoyed look.
Jenna: "The only people who knows about the game is the students of this school, everyone who was rumored or said they would do it always ends up in a grave".
Kate: "I guess you right, what's the point of this game anyways?"
Marcia: "Are you saying you never really knew about it?!"
Marcia raised her voice a bit.
Marcia: "How come you never mentioned it?!"
I looked at her with a hint of anger.
Kate: "Oh I'm sorry but I didn't want to make a big deal out of it and I would get yelled at you like how your yelling right now!"
Marcia lowered her voice.
Marcia: "My bad, but still you never knew about it?"
Jenna: "Kate I'm pretty sure you the only student who doesn't know about "The Game" .
Kate: "Well it would be nice if someone explained to me how it works".
Jenna and Marcia: "fine we'll tell you".
Kate: "finally".
I sighed in relief.
Jenna: "I'll explain, "the game" is actually called "the midnight game" it's a game in which you have to survive until a certain hour".
Kate: "how do you know it you finished".
I asked with a confused expression.
Jenna: "I honesty don't know Kate, only the people who play it would know. Anyways there are rules to this game *explains the rules*.
Kate: "that sounds elaborate for a game".
Jenna: "well it's how it works, you have to survive the night, if you fail you will die".
I looked at Jenna with a very confused expression.
Kate: "why, what will happen?"
Jenna: "like I said I don't have a clue, only the people playing the game would know".
Marcia: "But they are all dead, so it remains a mystery".
Kate: "ok I see.....".
-After School-
I walked alone after school, it's pretty nice today since it's autumn. You know I've always been curious about the game but with all the suspense that surrounds it I kinda want to play it now. I know it's dangerous and I might not live to see life but the suspense kills me. I think maybe tonight I'll try it, today is Friday and I'll be home alone anyways so I don't have to worry about getting in trouble.
I finally got home and started preparations for the game.
