Four Years Later (Present Day)

Exactly four years ago, I was running away from my best friend. Four years later, I'm running into his open arms.

It's funny how life works. One second you're mad at someone and the next you're not. One second he's gone and the next, he's right beside you.

This just so happens to be the part where he's right beside me. I can't wait to finally be reunited with my best friend. No matter how much he has changed, he'll always be my best friend and I'll always love him.

---

I grab the handle on my suitcase and I start rolling it to the exit of the airport. As I'm walking further into the airport, I'm also scanning all the faces of the passing people, looking for him.
The further I walk, the more I lose hope of ever seeing him again. Maybe he never showed up. Maybe he forgot. Maybe he just doesn't want to see me again. I mean, we didn't have what you would call a pleasant goodbye. We had pretty much the opposite. Maybe he just doesn't care for me anymore, especially after the last time I saw him.

I continue scanning the faces of everyone around me. Then, I see him. He's wearing a green varsity jacket with the letter D on it, a pair of dark blue jeans and a pair of black high tops. He's leaning on a pole and he's holding a sign with my name on it with hearts around it.

I immediately drop everything I'm currently holding and I run towards him. As I get closer, he drops the sign into the floor and he holds out his arms for me. I jump into his arms and he catches me in a long embrace.
I wrap my arms around him and I bury my face in his chest.
"I missed you so much," I mumble into his jacket.
"I missed you, too," he says as he strokes my hair.
"You can't even understand how much I've missed you," I say as I look up at him.
"I think I can," he says. "Cause I've missed you just as much as you've missed me."
"Oh, Darren." I hold onto him even tighter, afraid to ever let go. Because maybe if I let him go, I'll never see him again. Maybe if I let go, he'll disappear for another four years. Maybe if I let go, I'll lose my best friend again. And I won't let that happen ever again.

Sorry the first chapter was so short. I'll make the next one longer cause I'll probably have more time for the next one. This one was probably a tiny bit rushed just so I could upload as soon as possible.
Sorry about that lovelies.
