Best Friends. Darren Espanto

T W O - Mending Old Wounds

Just minutes ago, I was reunited with my best friend, Darren Espanto. It was possibly one of the best moments of my life. I was so happy to finally be able to see my best friend again.

Now, I sit in the back row of a van beside Darren, neither of us saying a word to each other. I pretend to look out the window when I'm really trying to figure out what I'm going to say to him.
I quickly glance at him, and turn away as fast as possible. I take another peek at him.
"Lara, stop looking at me, it's creepy," he finally says.
"I wasn't- I wasn't- I was just-"
"At a loss for words?"
"Sure." I sigh in defeat.

I turn towards him and I sit with one of my legs on the seat.
"Darren?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry about the way I left things," I say, looking down at the ground.
"Don't be," he says,"it was partly my fault."
He puts his fingers on my chin and he lifts my head up so that I'm looking straight at him. He repeats what he said.
I sincerely smile.
"How 'bout we make up for what happened in the past and we have a day of fun," he suggests. "Starting tomorrow, of course," he adds.
"Good, 'cause my head hurts like crazy."
"Maybe you should get some rest."
"Yeah, maybe."

That was a really short chapter, wasn't it. Whoops. I'll make the next one extra long to make up for it. ;)
