Shay's POV

It has been two weeks and right now we are presenting our project. I am nervous even though I know we did good. We finished it in three days like I predicted.

We are up next, Kevin gives me a reasurring smile that lifts some of my unease. Mrs.Hoffman calls us up," Kevin and Shay." We get up and walk in front of the class with the poster and my laptop.

We agreed to let Kevin do all the talking. "So who will you be presenting for us today?" the teacher ask looking at us. "We are doing Thomas Doughty, he was an American artist" Kevin begins.

Everything went smoothly, we showed the poster while Kevin read the Powerpoint. Nothing bad happened which I was surprised and for once I wasn't all sweaty and hot.

We finished and took our seats, I let out a breath of relief and glance over to see Kevin giving me thumbs up which I give a smile in return.

In those two weeks me and Kevin have gotten closer, we are actually going on another date on Friday. Its only Tuesday and im already nervous, its going to be our second date.

I pull out of the school parking lot and head home. While on the road I get a text. I pick up my phone to see it is from casie. I look back at the road then back at my phone to see what the text says, 'Hey Shay, I was wondering if you want to do something after school tomorrow?" I smile and begin to respond when suddenly a loud screech explodes into the air I look up from my phone to see a car about collide into me. I hit my brakes but it was no use.

I get ready for the impact. When it comes it jolts me in my seat, and my face bangs hard against the steering wheel. My ears are ringing and I can feel myself slipping into unconsciousness. After a moment of trying to hold on to consciousness, the dark wins and engulfs me.

I open my eyes only to be blinded by bright lights. I narrow my eyes till they are use to the brightness. I look around and see my mom next to me holding my hand crying, "Mom?" I croaked. "Shay?! How you feeling?, " my mom says quietly.

"My throat and head hurts" I croaked out. "Here" she says and hands me a glass of water, which I drink gratefully. When I go to lift my left arm I realize it is heavy and I look over to see my arm in a cast. "What happened?"

She takes a deep breath before she answers. "You were in a car accident" that's when it hit me, I was texting and this car came out of no where, note to self, DON'T TEXT AND DRIVING!!!

"You broke your wrist and your leg and banged your head pretty bad." "But the doctor said you should be fine, they are going to let you out on Thursday." I slump down in the bed with a sigh. Then I remember, Casie. "Mom does Casie know im here?" "No, you want me to call her" "Yes, please" she nods and walks out of the room.

"Shay!" I look up to see Casie running towards me with my mom walk in after Casie closing the door. "Casie" I say with a weak smile. She grabs my hand and smiles I see a tear run down her face. "Awe Cas, don't cry" I say feeling tears threatening to break lose.

We talked the whole time about what happened, I got scolded by my mom for texting while driving. But she let it go.

Before Casie left I asked her to do me some favors, "Casie can you get my homework for me?"
"Yes, anything else?" "Can you tell Kevin where I am at?" she nods her head and smiles. I smile back, she lets go of my hand and waves good by, I wave back.

I feel my mom grab my hand, "Well sweety, you better get some rest, it has been a rough day." I nod my head, realizing how tired I am. I yawn and instantly fall asleep.
