They run

And dream of faith, discarded

Of hope, defiled

Of fear made real.

They run,

Bearing down upon the silence,

 A bitter noise

the song of unmaking.

They run,

Fire burning, a rain of diamonds

And a warm splash of roses.

They run

And will forever,

Scathed by better angels

Corrupted in the dark.
