Why is there nothing more to say?
Yesterday, my head was full of words
Little thoughts swimming through my mind
To whisper in your ear, but
Now silence is all I feel
Between us.
I can’t explain it, but the truth speaks
Volumes out in the open air.
Can you believe it?
Once you were an anchor, but
I see it all now, every
Indication of the weathering rope,
The decaying fibers straining
To tether us to the shore.
It used to be so simple
A touch, a kiss, and I was yours.
The miles were no object,
Land and sea no barriers
But the map folds,
Tucking away our memories
And the distance becomes infinite,
The space so wide
My love is lost to the hours.
Why is there nothing more to say?
My lips to the ear of the gods
I pray for safe surrender.
