The next day was a living hell for me. My mom found out about me giving that kid a bloody nose, and on top of that she was already pissed. She took away everything: my phone, laptop, and iPod; I still had my longboard though. Marc's mom pretty much told the kid my life story and he came to understand, he still didn't see me as a boy though. She apologized for him and said that I was always welcome to come over. With that said I was heading over today.
I knew in my mind that I wanted to go and see him but I couldn't bring myself to do it; my body was holding me back. I sighed, went into the garage as usual and pulled out Lola, my longboard. While I rode there it felt like my legs we caught in quicksand. The usual 3 minute ride felt like hours. Before I knew it was standing at his doorstep hesitant to ring the bell. Just as I reached for it someone opened the door.
"Sup' Kyle, I let Marc know you're here." Marc's older brother Philippe said. I stood in the front hallway letting the aromas coming from the kitchen fill my nostrils. His mom was cooking, which meant she knew id be coming over.
"Hey Mrs. Nouvel." I said still in the hallway. She popped her head out from behind the kitchen wall.
"Hello Kyle, nice to see you." She said through her thick French accent that was passed down to both Marc and Philippe. She motioned for me to come in and sit down. Just then, Marc came down stairs into the kitchen.
"What took you so long?" I said fiddling with the salt and pepper shakers.
"I didn't know what to wear." He sighed. I kinda felt as if his family was putting too much stress on their apology I mean look at them: his mom was cooking, he was wearing slacks, a dress shirt, and a tie, and his brother politely opened the door for me without me ringing the bell; it was all too much.
"Ya know, you guys don't have to do all of this for me, its actually kinda creeping me out." I said. Marc's mom nodded in agreement and shooed us out of the house.
"Wanna go to the park?" he asked looking down at me; this meant we were going to talk. I nodded and we took off.
The walk there was completely silent until I opened my mouth, "Sorry about that guy's nose...I just got too fired up over nothing." I mumbled. Marc stopped in front of me and pulled my chin up with his thumb and index finger.
"It wasn't nothing...I want every single last one of my friends to respect you; he didn't have to announce your gender to everyone, it's not his job." He said defensively.
"Look, I really care about you and respect all your wishes, and most of all I love you; I've loved you ever since we were little when I first met you, and if you don't feel the same I'm okay with that."
I blushed turning deep crimson and turned my back to him hoping he hadn't seen my expression. He stepped around me so he was blocking my path again. Before I got a chance to push him away he leaned in and kissed me. It was my very first kiss, and I was pretty darn happy it was with him.
I could feel him smiling against my lips as he pulled me into his arms. Just as hoped this moment wouldn't end he pulled away from my lips but he still held onto me.
"I love you." He said again moving my hair from my eyes. I wanted to say I loved him too but I couldn't; I was too shy.
"Do you love me?" he asked, I could tell he was hoping I'd say yes. I nodded with a smirk knowing he was going to smile. He held me tighter and kissed me again, placing one of his hands on my cheek. For the first time in my life I felt loved.
