Chapter 4

I sat up on my bed, running my hands through my messy brunette hair. My tank top all wrinkled and eyes still weary. I sit up thinking about how nervous i am.

Today was the day. The day i start a new life. A new chapter.

For a whole year.

It's gonna be a long journey. I can tell you that.

I slump up from my bed and walk towards my mirror. My hair was in a beautiful mess and my eyes were more darker than usual. I sighed loudly.

What if I can't do it?

What if i back out? Then Maya will surely leave me forever.

I can't.

I won't.

I am certainly absolutely positively sure I won't fall for him. I just hope i can keep the act up.

I walk into my bathrooms to get ready.

I wash my face and brush my teeth well, then put very light makeup on. I'm not one of those girls who love makeup. I'm pretty laid back and chill if i do say so myself.

I walk back into my room again and walk over to my gigantic cupboard.

I sigh and look through the avalanche of clothes.

I pick out a simple outfit. I put on my off-the shoulder white top and white washed denim shorts with my converse. I brushed my hair one last time and ran my fingers through my luscious roots.

I slowly walk downstairs and walk towards the fridge.

"Hi honey." My mum said as she read her newspaper and sipped her tea. She never usually greets me..

"Mom." I said back getting my bowl of cereal and sitting at the table. Auggie must of left with dad already.

I finish up and put my bowl in the sink as i grab my bag.

"Bye Riley. Also next time you go over to the bakery, be a little nicer to your friends." She said. How does she know about that?

I ignored her and walked out the door, hoping she wouldn't lecture me on 'being nice'.

Maya told me to wait for her at the subway so I wouldn't go alone, she also added that Lucas wouldn't be there. Phew. I can wait as long as i can

I got to the station and see a familiar blonde near a band that was playing. Maya always did love music.

I walked over to her and she turned around and was a bit startled.

"Riley, you scared me." She said with a smile. She must be nervous too. I mean what if me and Lucas break out and have a huge argument?

"Sorry, we better head off before the subway leaves." I said apologising. "You're right." Maya agreed and tipped the band while they gave us a wave.

The subway came just in time and we hopped on before we both lost each other in the cluster of people.

We both managed to get a seat and sat down quickly.

"You scared?" Maya asked. Yes. Definitely. How could she not notice?

"Yeah kind of." I lied. I'm terrified. She gave me a humble smile.

"Ok heres the plan: we meet Lucas and Farkle at the front of school and you guys enter school together. Remember, be flirty and lovey dovey. You know what i mean" she finishes. I slowly nod, not knowing what else i have to say.
