A week had passed since the fresher's party, blending into the usual hustle and bustle of college life. Classes resumed, corridors filled with chatter, and routines fell back into place. But not everything stayed the same.
Something had changed, especially between Hridya and Krishav.
He hadn't been the same with her since that night. There were no more casual conversations in between lectures, no lingering glances in the hallway, no shared jokes. He wasn't ignoring her-not really. He was just... keeping his distance.
And to him, that distance felt necessary.
Hridya walked out of the lecture hall, surrounded by a few of her friends. They were chatting, laughing, their voices blending with the noise of the crowd. The afternoon sun warmed the campus pathways, and there was a soft breeze playing with the ends of her hair. She looked carefree, lost in the fun of the moment, her laughter lighting up her face.
A few steps behind them, Krishav followed, his eyes glued to his phone. He wasn't really paying attention to where he was going, just scrolling absentmindedly. But then something caught his eye-a quick flicker of movement, and he looked up. That's when he noticed her shoelace. One of them was undone, hanging loose and swinging with each step she took. She hadn't noticed it, still lost in her own little world.
He hesitated for a moment, unsure if he should call out. It felt silly, maybe even awkward. But something in him nudged him forward.
"Hridya," he called, his voice soft but clear enough to cut through the crowd.
