Owen Grady snapped his fingers above his head, trying to get his raptors to listen to him. Blue responded instantly, as she always did. Delta took a minute, but she noticed. "Hey!" Owen yelled, and Echo's eyes snapped to his. "Charlie! Up here!" Owen yells, and Charlie just keeps looking away, completely ignoring his trainer. Owen pointed his finger at the stubborn raptor, yelling "Charlie! Don't make me come down there!" Charlie's eyes instantly snapped to Owen's face, and Owen smiled. "Better." He snapped his fingers again, and they all assembled into formation. He laughed inwardly. This was going better than it ever had. Probably because they knew that the runner of the park, Claire Dearing, was watching them intently, as if her life depended on watching these raptors do what they were trained to do. Owen made a motion with his hand, and the raptors assembled into a different formation. He laughed, lowering his hand. "Good job, girls. Good job." All of the raptors looked up at him expectantly, ready for what they all knew was coming. Owen reached into a bucket of treats, coming up with a dead mouse. "Echo, here's one for you," He said, tossing the mouse to the brown-colored Echo. Echo was a sweeter girl, not really liking to attack unless forced to. Owen liked working with her because she was shy, and he really didn't have to worry about her attacking him. "Charlie! Here's yours." Another mouse tossed. Charlie snatched the mouse out of mid-air, landing with a thud. Charlie was the clueless goofball of a raptor, a little nutty, but sometimes her cluelessness gave Owen a chance to get out of the pen without getting eaten. her green coloring was easy to spot out here in the middle of the training pen, so Owen could keep his eyes on the crazy little girl. "Delta! Hope you're hungry." Delta snatched the treat out of the air, not letting even letting it touch the ground before it was already down her throat. Delta was very fierce and ferocious, but had a sweet side if you knew her well enough. Her ferocity had come in handy during training sessions. She made a great attacker, but not so much a defender. Her gray coloring made her easy to see in the jungle, but get her out in a place like the resort or up against a stone wall, and you'd never see her. "And Blue," Owen said, raising the mouse slowly so that they leader of the raptors, Blue, could see it. She perked up instantly, clearly happy that it was finally her turn. "This one is for you." Owen tossed the mouse, and Blue snatched it quickly, even though none of the other raptors would dare to steal the elder's food. Owen always fed Blue last, as she was the leader of the pack and was used to the others giving her food and being fed first. So, just to be sure that she remembered that he was the alpha, not her, he always fed her last. Her blue markings and grey body had earned her the name blue, even though he had originally wanted to name her Bravo. Blue looked up at him, clearly looking for the signal she knew that he would give. He made the signal with his hand, and the raptors scurried away, dismissed. Hoskins, the leader of InGen's military division, came towards Owen, ready to talk. Owen knew what about. The same thing that it always was. Turning his beloved Raptors into military weapons. Owen hated the idea, and had fought against it for what seemed like forever. But he knew that no matter what, InGen was going to get trained raptors, with or without Owen's help. But before Hoskins could say a word, Claire Dearing grabbed Owen's arm and led him away from Hoskins, for which Owen was partly grateful for, saying "Owen, there's something that I want to talk to you about." Owen cringed, not really liking the way that her nails were digging into his arms. Or the way that her high-heeled feet kept stepping on his own with every step. Seriously, wha'ts with those heels? But Claire's grip did not subside until they were far away from Hoskins and Owen's purring raptor squad. She dragged him all the way across the field, into a new building, and into a polished glass and metal meeting room, which had always been just a bit too sterile for Owen's taste. "Owen, as much as I think that you are coming along perfectly with your raptors, I have some news for you." Owen's face paled. He knew that tone, and he didn't like where this was going. "I'm guessing that that news is not going to be something that I like." Claire sighed, as she often did when frustrated. "No, you're not going to like it. But you have to hear it and deal with it." Owen sat there, waiting for her to say what she was going to say. "Well?" He asked. She sighed again. "You'll have to give up the raptors, Owen."

"What?" Owen near yells, clearly not happy with her news. "Owen, they're just not safe. You're in there, risking your life, and for what? To prove something? No. That may be allowed in InGen, but not here. Not now." Owen ran his hand through his hair. "What do you mean, not safe? No dinosaur here is safe! And, even though you won't let a trained adult work with the dinosaurs, yet you let little children get right up and play with them." Claire stiffened, replying back with acid in her tone. "Those children are behind security barriers, or working with herbivores, and not risking their lives for some ridiculous raptors! Just think for a moment, Mr. Grady. If you were in the arena with those man eaters, and you got hurt. Whether it was the raptors fault or not, we wouldn't be able to get in there. Your handlers wouldn't be able to get close enough, no one would. You'd be eaten or mutilated before you knew what was happening. Those raptors are still wild animals. They can turn on you." Owen's mouth was set in a firm line, clearly not happy with Claire's reasoning. "I raised them, Claire. They're no danger to me or to anyone. I've been with them since they hatched in that lab of yours. And how could I get hurt if they're on my side? There are no such thing as bad animals, only bad owners." Claire looked out over the paddocks, taking her time before replying this time. "If you don't find another trainer to help you with the raptors, and are sure that they are the best of the best, then I'm giving the Raptors over to InGen." Owen's breath caught in his throat. InGen would mistreat his raptors, train them till they dropped. He couldn't let that happen. Not to his raptors. He'd have to find another trainer. But who?

Here's the first chapter of Daughter of Raptors! This story will be taking place during and after the movie Jurassic World, as kinda a alternate ending sorta thing. I won't be updating this one as often as the others, as I am kinda working on BlackHawk right now. This story is written with collaboration with my brother, Tim. And yeah, I know that we didn't meet our main character here yet, and she won't be here for several chapters. Actually, quite a few chapters. But she will be here! I hope that ya'll enjoy this story. An I won't be updating my stories every week as I'd hoped. I'm going to post an extra update for BlackHawk, and then I won't be writing for a while due to some serious author's block. Don't be afraid to comment! I reply! :)
