Owen's POV
The crunch gets closer, and I try to turn my head, but pain rips through my mind, and my head falls back down to the ground with a thud. I hear several more louder crunches, like there are several things behind me, but I can't tell what they are, or their exact location. My nerves start to go on edge, and I want to get up. To defend myself. To run. Something! I feel for my knife, but then remember that whoever bandaged me up took my knife along with my shirt. Oh, just perfect. All of a sudden something jumps down in front of me. I jumped back a bit, startled. I looked over at the young girl that had just apparently leaped from the ceiling. How did she even get up there? She looked to be no older than thirteen, maybe fourteen if you pushed it. Her long, black hair was pulled back in a loose ponytail, and her electrifying blue eyes bore holes into my very soul. She wore very short beige shorts that were frayed around the edge as if she'd worn them a lot. She wore a light blue tank top that seemed to be just a bit too small, and she wore a small brown leather satchel that hung at her side. She wore a belt made out of what looked to be braided cloth and hanging from it was a small knife what seemed to be made out of some sort of dinosaur tooth, a small branch and some vines. She was barefoot, and her head was cocked as if she was curious. She made a deep noise in her throat, a sound that sounded just like the raptors' call. "Who...Who are you?" I asked cautiously. She jumped back slightly, clearly a bit frightened by me. "It's okay. I won't hurt you." I say, reaching my hand out towards her. Yeesh, what am I doing? "I am sorry. I have been around the dinosaurs for so long, I don't really have time to practice my English. Sometimes I forget that I'm not one of them." The girl says, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "Oh." I said. Well, what else is there to be said? "What's your name?" I asked, and she stared at me, her head still cocked as if she didn't completely understand. She didn't respond for a few moments, and was as still as a statue for so long I though that she had fallen asleep. "I don't remember." She whispered, glancing towards the ground, her hair falling across her face, refusing to meet my gaze Better not ask. Was my first thought. She might get defensive, maybe even violent. Hey, I'm trapped, lying on my back, injured, she's got the weapons, and the advantage, and I'm defenseless. Best not to make her angry. "Where am I?" I asked. She brought out her makeshift knife, pulling some herbs out of her satchel, kneeling down and cutting them up and throwing them into the pot as she replied "The old Jurassic Park on the North end of Isla Nublar." The Old Jurassic Park. So this is what happened to it. Gone to crap. I think, waiting for a few moments, complete silence between us as she stirs the pot, then carefully pulls out some crudely carved wooden bowls and pours some of the stew or whatever it is into them. Whatever it is, it's kind of a dark brown color, with swirls of red here and there and chunks of some kind of meat slowly floating to the surface. To most people, it wouldn't look very appetizing, but to me, hey, it looked delicious. I've eaten worse. Trust me. "Here." She says, holding the bowl out to me. "You need to keep up your strength." I take it slowly, but I ask "You're the one that's been sabotaging all of the wires and such, aren't you?" She sighs, gazing towards the ceiling. "I try to help the creatures that they've trapped there. No more, no less. These people have no right to trap them here." She said, looking back down to her work. "But why? If they escape, a lot of people could die. Is that what you want?" I reply, staring at her. She sighed, glancing back over at me, staring at me with those unnaturally blue eyes. "If I wanted people dead, I would have left you by that paddock to bleed." She snaps, and I know that I probably shouldn't go any further. But I can't help it. "Why didn't you? Just leave me?" Before she can respond, a huge blast of air tussles my hair, and I glance behind the girl to see a T-Rex coming straight for me at top speed. "AHH!!" I yell, trying to get out of the way of the giant dinosaur coming right for me. It roars, it's massive teeth displayed in it's gaping mouth. No, I refuse to be dino chow for the SECOND time today! I try to get out of the way, but my shoulders and leg just don't want to obey. "Whoa! Whoa girl!" Says the young girl, and the T-Rex stops it's charge almost immediately, looking down at the girl, it's eyes widening in confusion. The girl jumped over, petting the T-Rex's nose gently. "He's with me, girl." The Rex purrs, rubbing it's nose against the girls small body as she continues to pet it's nose. "How'd you...How'd you do that?" I ask, and she snickers. "I just...identify with them. They know me, and they trust me." She said, rubbing the Rex's nose all the harder as the dino's back left leg kicks like a dog's when you find just the right spot. "I found most of them hurt in the forest. A lot like you." She walked over to a Velociraptor that apparently was hiding in the darkness, as I hadn't seen her there before. "Mylekk was caught in some of the power wires, and the electrical charges were killing her. I had to cut those wires to let her loose." She walked over to the T-Rex again, running her fingers along the dinosaur's head. "Stevie had broken her leg when some of their leftover construction equipment fell on her. I brought her in, took care of her. For some reason, she let me take care of her in my own way." The girl knelt down beside me, picking the baby raptor off of my chest. "Little Sierra was being used as a guinea pig in one of their labs, for experimentation on genetic splicing." The girl looked around, and so did I. My eyes began to adjust to the darkness, and I started to see more dinosaurs, hiding in the back. Some of them were looking at me, or the girl, but others were eating, napping, playing, whatever. "I saved most of them, or they saved me. I protect them, free them, and take care of them." I couldn't believe my eyes. The girl stroked Sierra's back, whispering "I saved you...cause I knew you were different. I saw what you did for those raptors, trying to keep them safe, away from their military. And I had to respect that. I couldn't just leave you to die there." The girl finished, sitting back down and serving herself a bowl of stew. I carefully took a bite of mine, ignoring it's spicy and frankly delicious flavor and just thought about this. Did this girl know exactly what she had accomplished? She had trained and protected all of these animals, with no one knowing. Ever. She had saved my life, and kept herself and these dinosaurs safe. The only thing that we knew was that someone was sabotaging the wires. She wasn't sabotaging. She was helping. Helping these injured dinosaurs. Even though it might end up freeing some of the other, more dangerous ones. And she'd saved my life, even though all she knew is that I worked with raptors and made sure that they weren't hurt. "So...I have to call you something..." I mutter, and I'm sure she heard me, because her head cocks to the right just slightly. She thinks for just a moment, before I say "Raptor." "What?" She asks, her brows knitted. "We'll call you Raptor." I say, sitting up and explaining "You first talked to me in the language of a raptor." She nods. "Not a bad name, and an apt one." She agrees, and I smile, taking another bite of stew. Ouch. Never realized how much that hurt the stomach. I groan, holding my side where the Indominus' claws had dug in. Raptor slides over to me, asking "Are you all right?" I nod, saying "Yeah. That Indominus smacked me pretty good, though." Raptor comes closer, cocking her head again and asking "Indominus?" "Yeah. You know, that big, ugly dino that was chasing and eating everybody?" "Oh. The Snowy one." She says, but then checks the bandage that she wrapped around my waist. "She looked like a mean one. I've never seen anything like that before. Not around here, anyway." "Neither have I." I replied, and she looked up at me. Somehow, I knew that this girl was different. And she was the one to help us.
