While I was driving, I had no idea where to go, so mom told me the directions. I never drove downstate before! I had Mom take a picture of me while I was driving so I could post it to Instagram later, the caption was going to say, "first time driving downstate!" Mom said the picture turned out really cute... My black hair was blowing around everywhere, because we had the windows rolled down, instead of the air conditioner, it was starting to get stuffy. In the picture you could also see my painted nails on the steering wheel. Mom is really good at taking pictures... She's usually the one that takes mine.
While I was driving we came across some construction. I had to stop a few times, but we finally got passed it, getting closer and closer to Lansing. We had about an hour left, so Mom called Beth to tell her that we'll be there soon, and that she's going to take us all out for dinner. She said it's not going to be anything expensive, just Subway. But of course, like always, Beth said she was going to take us out to dinner because Mom needed the extra money so we can keep renting hotel rooms, and going out to eat whenever we need to. Which was nice of Beth. I think she is one of my favorite 'adult' cousins, and I'm jealous of her hair, it's dirty blonde with natural beach waves. She also has good taste in clothes for her age of 35.
I could tell we were getting closer to Lansing because there was more traffic, there's always a lot of traffic near big cities like this. Sure enough we were close, I just saw a sign that said Lansing was 14 miles away. I'm so excited to see my cousins, but it's getting late. It's already 9:00!
I drove for 10 more minutes, then we were in Lansing. I needed help to find the hotel, so mom looked out the window and spotted it and told me where to go. It looked like a nice hotel and mom grabbed out her phone and called Beth again. "We're finally here! Come out so we can hurry and eat so we still have time to go to the store and go swimming."
"Oh yeah I forgot you had to go to the store, we'll be out in a minute," she said, "Daryl get your stuff on so we can get out there and go," we heard, then hung up. We got out of the car so we could hop in their, shiny, bright green, Hyundai Accent. It was only two years, it wasn't that old, neither was our Hyundai though.
When they came out of the hotel Beth ran up to me and Mom and gave us a hug, while Daryl just said "Hey".
"Hey," Beth squealed.
"Hey," me and mom both said together.
"Lets go eat, and then head to Target to get you a bathing suit," she said while looking directly at me.
While we hopped in her car, I posted the picture of me driving on Instagram, captioning it. It was a little awkward doing it while Daryl stared over my shoulder... The nearest place to eat was a Burger King so we went there. It was drive thru was pretty busy, it had seven cars waiting, so we decided to go in. In the line inside, there was only three family, two families just had a parent and their kid, the other family had two parents, and two kids.
Finally after five minutes it was our turn to order. I ordered a Whopper Jr. with onion rings and a water, Daryl ordered a Whopper with cheese, onion rings, and a Coke. Mom ordered a five piece chicken tender, with some French fries, and an ice water, and Beth ordered the same thing as mom. It took about another five minutes until we got our food. When we got our food we noticed they didn't give us mom's fries so we had to go back up to them and get them.
While we were eating I checked my phone for the time, it was 9:43! Down under the time, it showed many notifications from Instagram, but I was too hungry, so I didn't even bother to see how many.
When we were done eating we got rid of the garbage and headed for Target. It closed at 10:30 so we had to hurry, we only had about 30 minutes to find a cute bathing suit.
When Beth was done parking I grabbed my purse, and we all hopped out of the car and went inside. When we got in there, all of the women bathing suits were on the left side of the store, so we headed there while Daryl went somewhere else. When I got there I saw a whole bunch of bathing suits. They were mostly bikinis, but I found this cute tankini, so I bought that one. The top was hot pink lace with blue behind the lace so it wasn't see through, and for the bottoms I got hot pink shorts to go with.
After I picked out my bathing suit I went over to where the sunglasses were. Even though I had five pair, I still wanted some more. I got some heart shaped Aviators. They were super cute! Then it was time to go so I went to find Daryl. He was looking at video games, like I thought he would be. When I told him it was time to go he followed me over to where our moms were. Mom already paid for my bathing suit and Aviators and I told her she didn't have to do that, because I was going to buy them with the money I had. But she said it was okay, and we left the store.
