My eyes blinked as the sun hit my face. My eyes slowly adjusted to see the open window directly opposite me which cause me momentary confusion. My window was above my bed, not next to it. I sat up in the bed, which was firmer than my own and the frame a lighter wood. The room was mostly red apart from the dark grey on the wall behind me. Then in all came back to me.
Stupid slut!
I collapsed back onto the bed. I felt next to me for David. He wasn't there but the bed was still warm meaning he had only just left. That was probably what woke me up in the first place. I pulled on my pants and David's t-shirt before getting up and out the room. The flat itself was small but the space was used extremely well. We had literally just fallen straight into bed together last night so I hadn't had a tour of the place. I wandered out the room and into a sleek black kitchen, my feet were cold thanks to the wooden effect Lino. David had his back to me and only wore boxer shorts. He was bent over reading something while waiting for the coffee machine.
"Hey!" I yawned.
He turned around to notice me for the first time. He smiled and kissed me, "How did you sleep."
"Sleep?" I asked sarcastically puzzled, "We did a lot last night but I don't think sleeping was one of them."
He laughed before turning back to whatever he was reading. I sat down on the sofa which was up against the wall next to the window. I stared out on the streets below. It looked right out into a park which I envied. I would love to live near a park as it would be so much easier for me to do my running.
"Coffee?" He asked bring me back to reality.
"Tea please," I mumbled.
"Right, course, you don't like coffee." I smiled as he remembered. He looked kinda tense as he passed me a mug before sitting down next to me.
"What's up?" I asked.
"My mum called. My brother is over from Chicago with his wife for the week and my mum suggested I should visit with my girlfriend," he explained.
"You already told her?" I asked.
"No she just assumes," he said gripping his mug.
"You ashamed of me?" I asked.
"Hell no!"
"Then I'll go with you," I said.
"You would?" He asked skeptically.
"Of course if you want me there," I replied.
"I fucking need you there to keep me sane," he exploded.
"Well luckily for you, you don't have to meet my family," I said. He looked slightly uncomfortable by that comment as he knew about my parents, "Anyway when do we go?"
"Next weekend. That's when he's leaving. Think of it as a leaving dinner," he laughed.
I snorted, "Cool."
I could gather already that relations between him and his brother wasn't sound but I wasn't going to push for more details. Not because I didn't care but because we had only been officially together not even twelve hours so it wasn't my place. I glanced over at the clock on the wall.
"Shit I need to get home to get into work!" I panicked.
I jumped up and scrambled around the apartment trying to find my clothes.
"Damn it!" I kept muttering, "Crap, crap!"
Three minutes later I was ready to go and David sat on the sofa smiling at me. "What?"
