By the time I came to my senses, my family was already lifelessly sprawled out before my eyes. From outside, I could hear an insane laughter that shook me to the core... But I didn't hate it...
Looking over my silk kimono, I found myself splattered in crimson blood. I knew what had happened but my brain refused to believe it. I knew that I had barely escape death but what was the point? My family had been slaughtered, my friends were murdered in cold blood, and my village burned to ashes. The black soot will forever stain the pure white snow of our ice village.
I expected to feel pain, emptiness, despair... But I felt nothing. No matter how hard I search in my heart, I bore no hatred for the monster responsible, for I knew, we are of the same madness.
The demon Akura-Ou was just beyond the paper sliding door before me. He was within my reach, so I ran to him. I burst through the sliding doors, my eyes void of emotions, and called to him. The demon and the fox turned around in surprise at the sound of my voice, "Stop! You've killed my family, slaughtered my friends, and yet you let me live... How dare you..."
I felt the need to glare at them but I couldn't muster up the strength. So I just stood there in my ruined kimono, waiting for their response. They glance at each other and a wicked smile planted itself onto Akura-Ou's face. In one elegant gesture, the partners in crime held out a hand to me.
Knowing that I had nothing left, I joined them. We became known as the masters of destruction, feared by all in the land. Through our travels, I grew to love Akura-Ou even though he never believed me. On one account, he was tormenting a group of tanuki girls at a brothel and made a horrible mistake. Although I don't harbor many emotions, I was known to be the jealous type. When the wind brought to my ears that my beloved would be taking the surviving girls for his own pleasure, my frozen blood boiled and my magic peaked. I formed a blizzard on a mid-summer evening, freezing over the surrounding wilderness in its tracks. A storm so fierce that even the flames of the burning brothel seemed to stop in time. Of course my rage froze even the tanuki girls, turning them into mere ice sculptures. With a wave of my hand the wall of the now ice building shattered to reveal a shocked Akura-Ou. Unable to react to my extreme actions, he just stood there.
I then smiled a smile that wasn't a real smile for it never reached my eyes. Gracefully stepping towards Akura-Ou, I placed a kiss upon his lips and in an icy voice, I warned him, "If you ever so much as think about attempting something like that again, then I'll have your head."
The three of us then continued on our way as if nothing had happened.
