My heart almost stopped. I hadn't heard her voice in so long. My stomach clenched, my throat suddenly dry. I turned on my heels, taking her in. Her shoulder length brown hair had reached her elbows by now. The choppy bangs overgrown and tucked behind her ears. Her bright blue eyes were wide and bare, no makeup. She was prettier without it.

I wanted to cry, to drop my my knees and just ball my eyes out. But instead I ran forward, wrapping her in a huge hug, my long thin arms encircling her. She was still warmer than most people, I found it comforting. I just couldn't believe I had found her, of all people I thought would be lost and gone. She was here, and safe.

She hugged me back for a quick second before stepping away, putting distance between us. Her eyes never left my face. I turned to Dylan.

"How long have you guys been here?" I asked.

He sucked in a quick breath.

"For about four months. We had no where else. Well no one either."

I missed his deep voice, how it cracked slightly when he talked too fast.

The last time I'd seen him we were in Bio class, annoying Mrs. Turner and talking the whole timer. But that time was long gone, I didn't want to think about it.

"Is um...is he.." I couldn't bring myself to say his name.

"We didn't see him, still haven't."

I nodded. Understood.

Sabby led me upstairs where she'd made herself cozy in my old room. The posters had been ripped from the walls, but everything else seemed untouched. I went to the dresser, pulling out some clothes to change into. As I pulled the t-shirt over my head, Sabby finally picked up her head to look at me.

"You don't seem that different." She said softly. I laughed. It felt weird to laugh after not speaking for months.

"I feel different."

"I meant appearance wise."

She stood and made her way over to me.

"I missed you T. I really did."

Tears welled in her huge eyes, I couldn't stand to see her cry. So I pulled her into another hug, muffling her whimpers and sniffles. I could feel the wetness on my shoulder.

We stayed like that until Dylan came up to get us, Sabby immediately whipping her eyes and standing tall again. He didn't give her a second glance. The room wasn't light enough to see the redness of her cheeks.

"I made breakfast, we'll be leaving soon to go on a quick run. Tehya get some sleep while you can."

I nodded as he left the room, his heavy boots loud on the stairs.

I crawled into the bed, Sabby leaving minutes after. Staring at the ceiling for a while I tried to remember how things were before. I'd finally figured everything out, put everything in order, only for it to fall apart again. My eyes drifted shut and before I knew it I was dreaming.
