No One Wrote a Manual on How to Love an Arcane Angel
"Sweetie, can you hear me?" Elaine's words came soft as a whisper.
Caliope nodded slowly and started to open her eyes; that most simple act was exhausting for her. Elaine moved back a little and helped her sit.
"This is our doctor, he will check your signs and make sure you are well, please do not be afraid."
Her eyes had barely just focused on Elaine when she stood up and gave room for the doctor to come closer. He was an older and distinguished gentleman, who with a smile took place next to her and carefully started to examine her.
"Hello young lady, can you tell me where it hurts?"
"...everywhere..."
"Her skin was filled with bruises, but he managed to erase them all."
"Where is Amra?"
Elaine looked at Pronab and with a sigh she nodded, only then he left the room. Elaine got closer to Caliope and caressed her head slowly. In her attempt to calm her down, she felt as her own body was in pain; Elaine shivered and took away her hand from her with disbelief, looking back at the doctor.
"I don't understand what is happening to her, I can't even reach to her."
"But he was able, perhaps is best if you bring him back, her exterior body looks perfect but her internal damage is almost impossible. It is like"
"How can this be?"
"I am here, and I can hear you both..." Caliope said as she sighed.
"I am sorry sweetie... but there is no other way to explain this, your body on the outside looks normal, but you still have pain and internally you have great damages... we at this point are with no clue as to how to heal you."
"I... I want Amra..."
She closed her eyes as Elaine went outside the room only to return minutes later with Pronab and Amra. Whatever was happening it was beyond her knowledge and her understanding, she wasn't happy not knowing what was wrong and how to fix it. Amra walked in to Caliope, kneeled at her side as the doctor performed a couple more tests with different instruments. He held her hand and she opened her eyes back to look at him, smiling even with tears in her eyes. 'I do not know what is happening to me, all I know is I feel better when you are near me. I am tired though, I can't speak, it drains me. Please tell them, perhaps it will help' she whispered to Amra in their own personal way of communication and he nodded.
"She says she feels better when I am around her, but she is very tired and speaking drains her more."
Elaine Clark looked at Amra with surprise "She told you this how?"
"They are speaking to each other in their minds, they had been for a while." Pronab told Elaine.
The Doctor interrupted "she is still half human, right?"
"Yes she is, can you give her something for the pain?"
"I will inject her some sedatives, something for the body to relax, but keep her awake... however, if she feels the need to sleep please let her, she has an exhaustion level of people who have been in extreme conditions, any rest will help."
The doctor gently took her free hand and searched for the perfect spot to place the needle; smoothly sliding it into her skin, the needle found the vein and quickly the substance was applied. He then picked up his things on his suitcase and stood up looking at Elaine.
"My job here is over, I did all I can, and there is nothing else as far as my knowledge goes, on what is happening to her and why. I need to go check on the General now."
Elaine nodded "yes, I understand, please keep me posted on his status as well."
"I will, now if you all excuse me..."
Pronab opened the door and nodded "I will walk you to the front door doctor."
"Thank you, good bye."
As soon as they left, Amra gently moved Caliope on the bed to his side, and sat there, pulling her back into his lap and held her in his arms. Elaine walked closer, concern in her eyes as she sat on the very edge of the bed. Caliope whispered to Amra 'Tell her I am so happy to see her here...'
"She is happy to see you here."
Elaine smiled with sadness "I am sorry I didn't come from the start, perhaps I should have..."
Pronab walked back in and pulled a chair next to them. All sat in silence as Amra rocked Caliope slowly and gently in his arms. Caliope closed her eyes and felt how her body slowly relaxed, giving her some relief.
"I think... I might have, some sort of connection to Amra... and... him leaving far enough, damaged me..."
"Are you sure you want to talk?"
Caliope nodded slowly "I remember... now... when I started to feel sadness and pain from not seeing you... when I did not even know if you were there anymore, in your home... after my panic attack... could it be? The further you are from me, the harder it gets..."
"I didn't know about this before, and as I can see, you kept it to yourself... I understand of course... but yes, what you say is possible."
"That could explain it... Amra left Earth..." Pronab pointed out.
"He what?!"
Pronab nodded and looked at Amra, he had his eyes on Caliope but could sense both Elaine and Pronab staring at him. Caliope whispered at him 'I want to know what happened... where you went?'. He nodded slowly and started to talk.
"I was confused, I was angry, I needed to see our father."
Elaine gasped and held the edge of the bed with a tight grip.
"I left this time and space, I moved to another realm, and met our father... by the time I came back, the damage was already done."
Elaine shook her head "Amrafel! What happened?"
"I won't give details, they are personal... I went to see him for things that were happening within me, some personal conflicts and some personal worry... but now... I did not expect this to happen..."
"If everything Caliope is saying is true, then I think I understand a little better what is going on... you both are connected, of course... you both need each other, as all loved ones do... but once you left this world it was as if you were ripping yourself apart from her, and she is half human, her connection with you is strong, and you are not just another Angel..."
"What about you seeing our father? Did you really just go to see him to only talk about your personal feelings?" Pronab questioned Amra.
"I came here for a mission, and that mission has changed now because of her... I do not know how to react or how to be when she is in danger... I needed his guidance... I am not happy knowing I have almost no control over my actions..."
"And I think you did well, because by going to him you acknowledge this difficult situation and we need you, we can't afford to lose you... none of us could have expected this to happen to her, but she has not died... she is strong... she is a survivor... what did our father say?"
"He continues now on his pensive state, it took me some time to reach to him, but when the connection was made, he shared some of his thoughts with me. This attempt at breaking the balance of things has made him very sad and disappointed. He reassured his trust in me, in us all, and he said Caly here, is my own personal Angel... He believes in the course of actions we have planned, so we should continue with it Elaine."
Elaine nodded and smiled, there was calm now within her as she laid back a bit and watched Amra caress the hair off Caliope's face. Caliope snuggled in Amra's arms and sighed softly.
"An Angel that can't take it if you go away for a few hours is a lost Angel, then that I am..."
"I made it back as soon as I could. But from now on this won't happen again, if our connection is this strong and we can't be too far or you will get hurt, then I will never leave your side again."
"Elaine... Miss Clark..."
Elaine smiled "Elaine is ok my dear..."
"I have powers... how could that be?"
"Because of your father, and we are not so sure yet what specifically your powers are... until you are fully recovered we can't test them either and I am in no rush for now."
"Speaking of recovering, you need to rest now my love..."
Pronab stood up quickly and Elaine did the same with a smile.
"When will I stop feeling so tired?"
"I do not know my dear, but we will wait all the time it is needed... now we will leave you both to rest."
Elaine headed out of the room with Pronab, and before closing the door, turned the lights off. Caliope looked to the window but could not be sure of what time of the day it was. Grey clouds covered every inch of the sky, a wind kept blowing through the trees. She sighed.
"I think I am going crazy..."
"Then we both are."
"I was so used to being alone, to do things on my own, to not depend on anyone... and now you come into my life, and I just can't understand how I could have lived without you..."
Amra smiled "funny..."
"Funny? What is funny?"
"You claim to be the broken one, but I believe I am the one who all this time needed to be saved... you saved me..."
She blushed, burying her face in his chest. He chuckled and held her tight. Her arms caressed his back slowly, and she remembered vaguely what she saw the night before; ethereal fabrics floating from his back, strange yet beautiful, she believed she saw his wings. He closed his eyes as her hands caressed his back and she noticed there was something there indeed, something that made him feel different.
"You had wings... last night..."
He opened his eyes and looked at her in surprise. She leaned up a bit more and sat in a better position as he watched her.
"You saw... my wings?"
Caliope nodded "they were out of this world, like you..."
"...how?"
"How? They were not like anything I would have imagined, ever..."
"I mean, how did you see them? What moment?"
Caliope blushed "when we were making love..."
She started to lower her head and he quickly lifted her chin up and kissed her. She felt her heart pounding fast and her body shiver with electricity. He slowly caressed her body and tried to pull back from the kiss, but she held him tighter.
"You need to rest my love..."
"I am..."
She kissed him a bit softer, but did not release him from her embrace. He caressed her slowly, and felt her lips run from his lips to his chin and his neck. He held his breath and she could feel his body tense. She pulled back from him and started crying. He looked down at her with horror.
"What is wrong my love?!"
"I hate this... I don't understand what is happening to me..."
"Does it hurt more? Where?"
"I don't feel pain anymore..."
"...then I don't understand."
"You are trying to hold back from me, and I know it is because of me, but it feels as if you are rejecting me, and that hurts..."
"I don't want to hurt you more than I already have."
"I understand, just... I will get used to it, don't worry..."
She turned her head to the side and tried to move towards the bed but he did not let her go. Confused she looked up at him and he had a tense glare that started to scare her.
"You have me so confused, too... everything I try to do for you is either wrong or bad, or not enough..."
"I guess both us are new at this, no one wrote a manual on how to love an Arcane Angel..."
Amra chuckled "no one wrote a manual on how to love you..."
She blushed and smiled, and that was all it took for him to melt his tension away and kiss her with passion. She felt so good kissing him, it was all what she could think off when they were together. He held her with gentleness but she wrapped her arms around him feeling more secure of her own strength. He closed his eyes, and finally left aside all his worries, he rested her on the bed without parting his lips from hers, and with slow caresses she felt his hand all over her body. She arched, moaning feeling his lips, digging her nails on his back, making him growl lowly; he leaned down and kissed every inch of her skin, making her twist and gasp, craving for more. He became one with her, this time slower, tenderly, they both had their eyes locked on each other and their bodies rhythmically danced together. He moved inside her slowly, she breathlessly moaned and locked her legs around him. In time, they both started glowing, and as she climaxed, losing consciousness, she saw his wings one more time, just as her eyes closed and felt asleep.
