Revelations
The windows of the main dining room shattered and broke into millions of pieces; Caliope covered herself with an arm around her face as she was pulling the other arm around Vanessa and tried to cover her as well. She heard some strange whispers and she knew this was going to be a definitive time for them, she could see them, while Elaine, Pronab and Falshore could not. She stood up and looked down at a very frightened Vanessa "Please remember, you are with the good guys... I mean it..."
Vanessa looked up at her and nodded, she was too shocked to say something but she understood. Caliope looked around and saw the shadows move slowly towards them; the doors from the kitchen opened and Chef Remesch dropped the food he was carrying with him. Caliope sighed, another person who she will have to either explain or see Elaine make forget about what was going to happen; but to her surprise he shook his head and walked next to Elaine and Pronab on guard "Invisibles huh? I think they are playing with us... they must be playing between dimensions..."
Pronab nodded "Only Caly can see them, they have a connection and we need to see them before they get too close. She can't be harmed."
"Let me help with that, I will open a safe portal for them two."
Elaine nodded quickly "Please do it... Caly, sweetheart, when you see the light, take Vanessa there with you..."
Caliope was still surprised finding out the Chef was one of them, she nodded and pulled Vanessa's hand and made her stand. He walked towards them and closed his eyes focusing on his hands that started to move in circles, as if forming and shaping an invisible ball. Suddenly, it started to glow. He was creating light with his hands and it started to grow bigger and wider. Caliope looked to the shadows and these started to move closer faster; they seemed drawn to the light the Chef was creating, but still having difficult time to move the way they have been doing it so.
"They are coming faster, but not fast enough... whatever they are doing for you to not see them must be consuming their energy too..."
Elaine nodded at her and smiled trying to comfort her, but Caliope was too nervous. The light took shape of an egg and it grew big enough to fit a person inside. The Chef gave a step back and showed them the way "Walk inside, both of you... I will close it once you are there, you will be safe..."
Without hesitation Caliope pulled Vanessa towards the light and jumped in. The light was blinding. Caliope covered her eyes with a hand, but with the other she kept a tight grip at Vanessa. After a while, she adjusted her sight and found herself floating on a bubble of light; there was nothing outside nor inside it but them both, silence was deafening; she could hear her own quick breathing and even Vanessa's accelerated heart beat. After she managed to hug her friend, she checked on her to see if she was hurt; Vanessa started to open her eyes and smiled with relief. "Are you ok? anything hurts?" Caliope rushed to question her. "No, I am ok, I didn't get hurt thankfully... where are we? what is this place?"
"I have never been in a place like this, I suppose it is like a safe bubble..."
"What a safe bubble! for what? for whom? good time to start explaining me what is going on Caly..."
Caliope realized that there were no echoes in the place they were, she looked around again once more and finding the floating state a comfort, she sighed and decided to tell her story. Once she finished, Vanessa was quiet and this made her more nervous. She tried to hold silent for as long as she could but then she couldn't stand the sound of her own breathing.
"I would have never put all the weight of this on you if it wasn't because of the situation... you are too important for me, I was planning to have a full day out with long talks to let you hear this, and digest it slowly. Please say something?"
