The sun was raised high in the sky as it shone with its intense heat amongst the people of the village. Everyone wore a frown or a glare, no one happy to have to deal with another day of tiring work. Kids roamed free as they ran across business, playing their wild games and laughing hysterically. Only the kids of Arden seemed to be happy while everyone else was put to hard labor that made them all grumpy.
I just sat on the brick roof, hugging my knees to my chest as I watched the town below me. What no one knew was that being high up and over looking the village made you feel powerful and in charge. No one felt anything now in days, not even love.
"You rotten brat!" I heard a old man yell as he kicked a boy to the ground. He continued to repeatedly kick the fallen boy until he got up and ran off.
I watched with dismay as the old grumpy grouch picked up a fallen apple and placed it on top his cart full of apples. Feeling a smile play across my lips, I put my feet under me and stood up. I took one more look over the village before jumping off the edge. I landed with a thud on a wooden crate, then I reached out and grabbed a rusty bar, swinging onto a moving truck.
The truck drove into the busy village. I waved my hand like a princess and flipped back my straight brown hair. I jumped off the truck as we passed the grouchy old mans shop. He was too busy organizing his cantaloupe that he hasn't noticed his new guest. The people around me gasped as I shoved an apple into the baggy pockets of my tattered pants, but no one said a word.
I smiled evilly before kicking the man in the butt causing him to fall forward into his pile of cantaloupe. His melons spilled into the opening and I laughed as people began to gather the fruit and run. The old grouch grumbled as he stood up. He faced me with a red face and a shinny bald head.
"Why you-" he began but I cut him off rudely.
"Little imbecile; you rotten rodent; you pest! You outta be ashamed yourself!" I mocked the old mans voice before doubling over in laughter.
The old man scurried forward, the village people stopped an watched is with wide eyes. I side stepped quickly, making a sharp spin before landing a hard kick to the old mans back. He fell forward once again, breathing hard as I sat on his back.
"I'm very proud of who I am." I whispered evilly in his ear before getting to my feet.
I laughed again. I looked around me and everyone seemed to step back.
"Well! This isn't a show! The old man is hurt, come help!" I yelled.
Almost everyone ran forward to help the man on the floor complaining about his back. The evil smile reached my lips again as I sauntered through the crowd, they quickly parted making a path for me as I exited.

"You're an idiot." I told James, throwing my stolen apple at him.
He grunted as it hit him hard in his chest. His fingers quickly snatched it from the floor and his hungry mouth devoured the fruit within a second.
"Eat that fast and you'll have a tummy ache." I muttered, looking back over the town as I regained my spot atop the roof.
"Tummy? Funny hearing a word like that come from your vile mouth." James laughed, wincing as he placed a hand over the bruised skin that covered his rib cage, the spot where the old grouch had continuously kicked him.
"Why did you try to steal from Harrison, you know he'll beat you to a pupil if he catches you."
I couldn't help but feel free and powerful as the window blew back my loose hair. I continued to look over the village with pride, the sight of children laughing bringing a warm feeling to my heart. I coughed loudly, pushing the icky feelings away before turning back to James.
"Well," he answered, "I thought that if I could steal from Harrison then I could be just like you. A thieving little brat who beats up anyone who stands in her way."
"Except you're a boy," I giggled then my face fell straight, "And your mother isn't a well known and wanted criminal."
James looked at his intertwined fingers. I sat down with a sigh before looking below me. I heard a shriek and the laughter of children playing began to die down. I looked up, noticing the tall intimidating figure of a woman. She had a cloak that blew through the wind and her evil black abyss eyes sent chills down your back.
"Sky, darling, growing soft I see?" She asked.
"How could I, mother?" I responded, closing my eyes as she ordered men to throw rocks at James. He ran off, not telling me anything.
I hopped down, landing on the ground with throbbing ankles, but I couldn't care less.
"Hello darling!" My mother greeted, giving me an air hug before smacking me in the head. "I saw what you did to Harrison."
"The old man was easy," I muttered in response.
"Next time, I don't want to see him able to walk." My mother spoke evilly in my ear, sending cold chills down my back and I shivered with delight.
With an evil smile, I replied, "With pleasure, mother."
"That's my evil girl."
I watched as my mother began to walk away. Following wasn't difficult, but it wasn't very pleasing. I had to stand by watching as Mother popped children's balls, broke heads off dolls and snatch cash from the poor. She laughed evilly as she did all this and all I could do was stand their and smile with pride because that was how I was raised.
Home, where I lived, was on the edge of the village. Our house was three stories and leaned slightly, but it was in living conditions. On the roof of my home, I could see the palace and easily make out the golden carved palace gates. Being evil means to always think of ruling the world, my mothers voice repeated in my head.
Taking a seat on the couch and pulling out a book from under the cushion was enough to make my Mother loose her temper. She threw her hair brush at me, hitting me right in the cheek. I gasped as my fingers skimmed over the throbbing bruise.
"I spent time and most my life teaching you to be evil and you borrow a book from the library!"
Her stern voice made me cringe in fear as I cowered back against the couch.
"My deepest apologies mother, but I wasn't planning on returning it, I was thinking in selling it for my own profits." I lied.
My Mother smiled and looked over me proudly.
"My hard work is starting to pay off." She muttered before staring back into her mirror.
"Nope." I whispered to myself before going back to my book, Moby Dick.
Unlike most books now, the title of this book truly misleads you. You don't just read a name expecting it to be of a legendary blood thirsty whale. On the brown leather cover you don't make out a summary of the story being that a crew of men set sail to look for a evil whale and get revenge. What counts is figuring it out and reading it. Something I have yet to learn...
Hey! Thanks for reading my story so far, I know it's not the best but its the best I got :/ Thanks for giving it a chance :)
P.s. Help Me! Any ideas on which celebrity to tag Sky as?
