The night went on smoothly. Everyone conversed with one another, laughing at the funny memories they had spent together when they were children. I stayed out of it as much as I could since I had no idea of what they were talking about most of the time. I just sat there and listened to everyone's laughter fill the grand ball room.
"You're not going for dessert?" Abel asked me and I wiped my mouth my my napkin.
"I'm pretty full already." I lied.
"Oh come on, just try one thing. Try one dessert dish that you've never tried before and we'll call it a day." Abel offered.
I squinted my eyes as I looked at him. I sighed in defeat.
"Okay, but if I get fat, you're to blame."
"Got you covered." Abel patted his flat stomach jokingly.
I laughed.
"How do you manage to stay so thin?"
"Doctor told me I have a serious case of high metabolism. Very rare and not contagious." Abel joked.
I laughed, my laughter blending in with everyone else's.
I took a small plate and walked over to the abandoned dessert table. Abel stood beside me as I looked over everything, deciding what to pick.
Everything covering this table was something I've never tried and everything looked delicious.
"Can you pass me your plate?" Abel asked, I had him my plate and he added, "You take forever to choose."
I smiled at him as he filled the small white glass plate. He took a slice of red cake that was covered in something white. He then added a brown cupped chocolate pastry along with a chocolate strawberry. He handed me a fork and walked with me back to the table.
Abel pulled out my chair and I thanked him quietly as I took a seat. I cleared my throat, looking down at what was on my plate.
"Here goes nothing." I mumbled to myself.
I took a piece of the sliced cake, slowly bringing it to my lips. I chewed slowly at first then a smile crept up my face.
"Good?" Abel asked with a smirk.
I smiled in return before nodding my head. Once I finished my cake I took a bite out of the chocolate pastry, it had a savory sweet taste of rich chocolate.
"That's a brownie, I think they're delicious!" Abel said as he ate a brownie as well.
My last dessert was a chocolate covered strawberry. I wasn't a big fan of strawberries so wasn't very fond of having to trying this.
"My turtle eats faster than you." Abel said with a flat tone.
I laughed quietly before taking a bite of the chocolate tipped strawberry. The strawberry flavor wasn't all there, it was mixed with a sweet chocolate flavor. I gave Abel a thumbs up before finishing my dessert.
"Great, now I feel fat." I muttered as I tapped my stomach.
Abel laughed and looked behind me. I turned and noticed Zach leaving.
"Are we leaving?" I asked, flattening my hands on my dress.
"No," Zach replied sternly, "I have to do something, I'll be back to take you home."
Zach left down the hallway we came. I glared at the back of his head before turning back to Abel with a smile.
"So, are you and my brother... like, a thing?" Abel asked while looking down at his glass of milk.
