Looong chapter!!!
There's more Hyunsung in this chapter!!
Sakura sat hunched at her worktable, the thick aqua-colored tome spread out before her. The book smelled of dust and dried herbs, the pages worn thin at the edges like they had been read and reread for centuries. Symbols danced across the parchment, unfamiliar and ancient — siren script, maybe, or something older.
She bit her lip and flipped another page. There were diagrams of vocal cords, sketched spell circles, and lists of known siren bloodlines. Her stomach twisted when she reached a page titled "Inheritance and Bloodline Control." Her hands tightened on the paper. This was it — this was what Alexander had been hiding.
Behind her, the boys had gone strangely quiet.
Too quiet.
She turned her head slightly and risked a glance.
Hyunjin sat back against the couch, one leg stretched out, the other bent up lazily. Han was closer now, leaning toward him, something unreadable in his expression. They weren't laughing or teasing this time. They were just... watching each other.
"Stop looking at me like that," Hyunjin murmured, barely above a whisper.
"Like what?" Han replied, voice softer than Sakura had ever heard it.
"Like you know exactly what I'm thinking."
Han tilted his head. "Maybe I do."
Sakura froze with her hand mid-page-turn. Do not look. Do not interrupt. Let them have this moment, even if you're dying inside.
She peeked anyway.
Hyunjin's hand reached up, brushing Han's cheek with slow, deliberate care. Han didn't move away. His eyes fluttered shut for just a second, then opened again — and before either of them could second-guess it, Hyunjin leaned in and pressed his lips gently against Han's.
It wasn't rushed. It wasn't intense. It was short, warm, and surprisingly quiet. A question and an answer in one soft movement.
When they pulled apart, Han blinked and laughed quietly, his hand still resting over Hyunjin's heart. "Well," he said, "I guess we're screwed in more ways than one."
Hyunjin smirked. "You're ridiculous."
"And you kissed me," Han replied, with entirely too much satisfaction.
"I'm gonna kill both of you," Sakura said flatly, slamming the book shut.
The boys turned. "You were spying on us," Han said with mock offense.
"I live here. I'm not spying. I'm trying to figure out how to not die for murder and siren secrets while you two are having a romantic montage in my living room!"
Hyunjin shrugged. "Kiss breaks are healthy."
Sakura's eyes twitched.
"And guess what?" she snapped, holding up the book and pointing at the marked page. "Alexander was controlling bloodline inheritance. He was manipulating sirens — maybe even creating them. And if anyone finds out I have this book, I'll be next. We'll be next."
That sobered them up.
Hyunjin leaned forward. "So what do we do?"
Sakura took a deep breath. "We disappear for a while. Hide. Study this book. And figure out what Alexander started... before someone finishes it."
