"Your hair is really pretty." the little girl with flaming hair said quietly as she sat beside me, running her nimble fingers through the coffee colored mess attached to my scalp.

My hair looks dreadful, is she okay?

"Uh, thank you." I glanced over at her in confusion since her voice didn't seem very familiar to me, but then smiled slightly after recognizing her face.

I can't quite remember how we met, though.

My memory has alway been a bit faulty.

"Can I... braid it?" her vibrant eyes looked up at me hopefully. "I promise it'll look perfect, please!"

I don't really like anyone touching my hair but me, but I couldn't even say no if I wanted to.

"Um... sure." I gave her a hesitant smile and her freckled face glimmered with joy before she crawled on her knees behind me, the short grass crunching beneath her tattered blue jeans.

I adjusted my crossed legs and sat up strait once I felt her tugging at my thick mane.

"Do you know where Tyler is?" she asked inquisitively, making my brows furrow in confusion.

Never heard of him. "Who's Tyler again?"

"My boyfriend, don't you remember?" her head poked out from around my right shoulder suddenly.

Is she talking about that boy that was flirting me up a few weeks ago?

Some boyfriend.

"Well he never really told me is name." I let out a stifled laugh. "but no, I haven't seen him." She sighed and went back to work.

"Do you have a boyfriend?" she spoke a few minutes after bringing up her currently missing one.

"Nah." I told her pulling at the grass nearest to me.

"Why not? do you not like boys?"
she interrogated.

Just as I was about to answer the two questions she had just asked me she gasped loudly and my eyes widened at her.

"Do you like...girls? Do you have a girlfriend?" my forhead wrinkled at her continuos questioning.

I hurriedly spat out a reply so she wouldn't have time to think of anymore questions to ask me.
"I'm just not really worried about being with someone right now, and yes I do like boys- even though they kind of suck. No, I do not have a girlfriend, but girls are pretty cool." and then I pondered that statement a little.

"Well.... most of them are, I think...." I suddenly corrected as an unwanted image of Kaitlyn popped into my mind in her true form, devil horns and all.

"You're boring." She sighed dropping my -probably severely knotted- hair down my back.

Why are children so blunt? If you're going to insult someone you hardly know you should at least present the insult in some form of constructive criticism, jesus.

"You think I'm boring?" I pointed to myself.

"Well yeah, you don't even have a boyfriend." She definitely has a one track mind.

"You know, that really hurt my feelings." I told her trying to seem sad.

"Really?" she tilted her head to the side to look into my eyes.

I nodded, put my face into my hands, and started to sniffle.

"I was just being honest! my mom says that you should always be honest with people."
