Just one more part after this. I really dont like the way this chapter turned out. But I tried.

Scene Six:  The Inevitable Fate

Julie walks out of her house without making any noise. She’s glad that she didn’t wake up her dad. It would be very hard to explain what her goal is tonight.

She hesitantly walks at first, then she remembers that her best friend’s sister is missing. And if anything, she owed Damon the return of his little sister. She regains her confidence again and walks down the sidewalk with her back straight and her chin up. She keeps walking until she realizes she’s at the Abyss Park. She stops to breathe and to think her plan out. She’s going to go down and see if Dana is there. But how is she going to get down there? The cliff is at least a few hundred feet, so she couldn’t just jump down there and be done with it.

Then Julie remembers something she read while learning about the Abyss Cliff. She gets closer to the cliff and starts to look around. After a few minutes of walking around the cliff, she finds exactly what she’s looking for. An old, mechanical lift.

The electric box next to it has several cobwebs and dust bunnies coating it. Julie swats the webs and dust off with her hand while coughing a little. Once she actually sees the box, she realizes that there’s a lock on it.

Julie curses and looks at her surroundings to see if there is anything she can use to pry it off. She spots a large rock. She picks it up with little struggle because she’s not one for exercising. She has a hard time lifting the rock over the lock, but she manages to do so. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath.

She can do this. All she has to do is break the lock and she can finally search for Dana. She takes another deep breath and searches for all the strength in her tiny body. She gathers all of it up mentally, hoping that this will work.

She lifts the rock up higher and then brings it down with all her force. She opens her eyes when she hears a satisfying crack of the lock. To her luck, the lock broke! She takes off the hanging lock and opens the little panel to turn on the lift. It’s hard to open at first, but with a lot of prying she finally opens it. A few switches are in the panel. They all are labeled, to Julies luck. She finds the switch she’s looking for and pulls it down, hoping it will be the right one.

She mentally jumps up in glee when she hears a crackle sound come from the box. She’s very surprised that the old thing still works. It’s probably been abandoned for half century now.

The next task for Julie is to get on the dangerous looking lift that leads to the bottom of the Abyss Cliff. She opens the small gate cautiously and slowly steps inside, still warily. The lift groans with her weight. She takes another deep breath to try to calm her nerves. If she doesn’t keep herself in check, she’s sure she’s going to have a panic attack.

She looks at the control panel in the lift and hits the (what she thinks is) the down button. Julie practically jumps up in glee when the lift starts to travel down. She’s just all luck tonight—but she knows soon her luck will run out. Very soon.

While the lift slowly, but surely, travels down, Julie makes the terrible mistake of looking over the edge. Well damn, she curses in her mind. That’s a fucking long way down. Her mind freaks out and she starts to hyperventilate.

She hastily pulls the bag on her back down onto the floor of the lift. She unzips the first part and searches for her inhaler. “Shit!” She yells once her hand can’t find the reliever. What is she going to do now? She’s having a breathing attack, but she doesn’t have anything to stop it.
