Wedding preparations

I hate my best friend. She's currently sticking bobby pins in my red hair, trying to keep it up in the extravagant hairdo that she tied it in. "Riley, why can't I just straighten it?" I whined, staring at my sticky, bobby-pinned and intricately designed hair. This was going to take forever to get out.
"Oh, hush. This is only practice." She grinned like a Disney villain, which made me narrow my eyes at her in the mirror.
"Don't you dare curl it. You're lucky I'm even putting on a dress." I hissed, seething now. She was, lucky, I mean. I had entirely refused dress shopping and forced Danny to go with her after our hug yesterday morning. They had returned late last night, and Riley had swept me into her room to show off her new dress, meaning I had no time to talk to Danny. This morning, Riley woke me up early and demanded to practice doing my hair so she would have a routine by the time the wedding came around. Ugh.
I hate weddings. They're expensive, they make other people jealous or angsty, sometimes they cause huge drama and most importantly, I hated weddings because I never had a good experience at one yet. I've always either had something spilled on me, something said about me, or my love life was thrown in as a fun rumour. (FYI, I most definitely did NOT screw my professor in college.) So hearing I was invited to this wedding made me hate my best friend. Just when I thought things were getting better, they got worse. You know what's even worse than being invited to the damn thing? I'm on cake duty with thing 1 and thing 2.
Speaking of thing 1 and 2, I was still confused and slightly hopeful about what went down two days ago. He had hugged me, and claimed it was proof, but the only proof I could think of was how he was supposed to be proving to me that his 'friend,' otherwise know as himself, had fallen in love with a girl, otherwise known as Riley.
I was expected to wear a dress of some sort, and let's just say that wasn't going to end well, for anyone. It wasn't that I hated dresses, by no means. It's just that I don't know how to act proper in a dress. I don't wear them much, and the highest heel I can walk in are the ones on my combat boots. I already saw the heels I was going to be wearing. Unnaturally high, so my height would be incredibly enhanced. I hated them already. I was not ready for them at all. I knew I was going to be clinging to someone the whole night. With that thought, I started thinking about Danny. I guess I liked him, but I wasn't entirely sure. I mean, he's in love with my best friend. That really should turn me off immediately, but it doesn't. I mean, it's probably in the girl code somewhere that you shouldn't go after a guy that likes your best friend, but I couldn't help it. Let me paint a picture for you; Danny was a positive magnet, and I was a negative magnet. I can help being attracted to him, it's just basic science. I'm not sure if it would really work the other way around. He doesn't like me that way. I know he doesn't.
Anyways, as I looked into the mirror and was shocked. My hair, despite usually just being straightened, decide to work for Riley, and it looked gorgeous. All of the curls pinned, but some were left down, hanging by my face. A bow was pinned to the front, giving it an interesting look, and I liked it. "You're a genius. Holy shit." I muttered, and she beamed.
"I'm putting this on Instagram!" She squealed, and I blushed, knowing she had quite a few many followers.
Danny walked in, with Emma in his arms, and I knew he was here for help from Riley, but when he looked at me, he stopped for a second and stared. Maybe the wedding wouldn't be that bad, or had I imagined that gleam in his eyes?
A/N: I know, I've been gone for a long time, but I'm back, and I'll tell you a little about my abrupt hiatus. I'm in the middle of a family court thing, and it got a little overwhelming, so my mom took my phone in hopes that the absence of electronics would help, and it did. Now, I'm back, and I will do my best to update every monday, but I'll make sure to tell you guys if I can't.
Another thing I want to mention is, I want to start making a fictional story, about two people falling in love and it'll be pretty revolved around country life. comment below if you would or not.
