Calytrix is a young witch who just turned 20. As is customary for all witches of her age, she must leave her home village and explore the world. She journeys to find her own place within it and a purpose, but magic is declining and only a few witche...
I awoke next to Akios, who was peacefully asleep, resting on my shoulder. It was pleasant to see him at ease and seemingly unconcerned. He didn't have any eye bags under the eyes, and his skin was soft to the touch. Sleeping like a baby would be an acceptable term to describe it. One who had many troubles in the waking world should be able to have peaceful sleep at least.
The sunflower bloomed gloriously, tracking the morning sun. No black hole appeared, which was a success. If something bad happened, the tower would surely have a mechanism to alert us.
Even though the blanket was fluffy, I felt stiff from staying still while sleeping. Usually I change a million poses during sleep, but this time I woke up in the same one as I fell asleep. Maybe Akios's presence made me move less subconsciously.
I moved my right leg slowly in order to stretch it out without waking up Akios, and it seemed to work. Next, I focused on my left leg.
"Bo!"
A sudden sound made me jump. Akios laughed, and I felt a bit silly for getting scared that easily.
"You're up early today," he said.
His eyes were shining in the bright morning sky.
"How do you know the time? There is no clock here?" I asked.
"When the little blue lights dance very high, it is morning, and during the day, they tend to dance lower and lower," he explained.
I looked at the strange blue lights and noticed his words were true.
Akios played with a lock of my hair: "Our experiment was successful... next we could try mixing different species of animals."
"Absolutely not!" I said as I remembered the monster creatures' witches made.
"But what about mixing bunnies and kittens?" Akios evilly smiled.
"No! Mixing cuteness together in one being doesn't make it cuter," I explained. "We should leave something great alone because we'd ruin perfection."
"You never change," Akios laughed happily.
Since I didn't want to be teased anymore, I tended to the sunflower. I had to give it water because it'd be a shame for it to wither away, and Akios said he was off to prepare breakfast.

After breakfast, I walked everywhere around the tower, but I couldn't find a single trace of Solelay's memory. Akios noticed how restless I was and followed me around. In some rooms, he tried to be helpful, but in the others, he just teased me.
Akios stated, "You appear awfully bored, yet we have many tasks."
He grabbed a book from the floating bookshelf that glided silently through the air. It was a thick book about political history. The cover seemed to be untouched, as if nobody had read it.
