Some Random Knight POV;

Things had been different. It was odd, Gwaine was suddenly stronger, faster and more agile then the rest of us. He seemed to move fluidly, gliding over the ground. I was jerked out of my musings to be Gwaine neatly slip his sword inside Arthur's guard and lay it against his collarbone.

''You've gotten stronger.'' Arthur told him, pulling back.

''So have you. You don't like being beaten, do you?'' Gwaine asked after a moment.

''Take a break.'' Arthur called out before wandering away, laughing quietly.

Ariel POV;

''You shouldn't be so obvious.'' I told Gwaine after the knights had finished training. ''I could see you from the castle.''

''Just because of your enhanced abilities.'' He looked around. ''I know you're worried, but there isn't any need, alright. Here,'' He said, pausing to grab a sword. ''Spar.''

''What? Come on.'' I turned away, scoffing, but swung at the last second and clashed my sword with Gwaine's. The following fight was fast and furious, both of us using reflexes to the maximum in an attempt to get inside the others guard. The match finally ended with both breathing hard and calling a truce.

''Aww, wasn't that a new experience for you? Not being able to beat a girl.'' I teased, putting the swords away.

''Yeah, yeah. I just like being able to go into the sunlight.'' Gwaine sighed and walked out into the afternoon sunlight, thinking back;

Ariel slid her hand out, only to hiss and pull it back, tears sparking in her eyes. ''This is useless.''

''No, it's not.'' Gwaine was lying sprawled out the bed, trying to keep calm.

''We can't go in the sun! What are you supposed to do with the knights training?''

A knock on the door startled them both. ''Not now Merlin,'' Ariel sighed, dismissing him as she turned around.

''Put this on,'' Merlin told Gwaine. ''And then go in the sunlight.'' (ring)

''Can't hurt to try.'' Gwaine shrugged and nudged Ariel out of the way, ignoring her protest. ''Huh. It works. Where did you get this?''

''I don't know. I just woke up and did the spell.'' Merlin's answer was cryptic as he handed Ariel a similar ring. (ring). ''I don't know the specifics of the spell, but I don't think there's a time limit, but for some reason, I made three other rings, so keep them with you.'' He continued, handing Ariel two rings (ring A and ring B); and Gwaine one (ring C). ''I also don't know why I gave those rings to that person, but give them to someone who deserves it.'' And with that, Merlin had left, swearing not to reveal their secret.

Ariel was woken by Gwaine shaking her one night. Confused and yet trusting in him, she pulled on the trousers he had given her and holding still while he loosely laced a corset before pulling a lose shirt over it.

‘’What’s going on?’’ She hissed at him, grabbing his wrist.

‘’Do you trust me?’’ He asked her.

‘’Always,’’ she replied.

‘’Good.’’ Gwaine pressed a sword into her slim hands. ‘’I’ve left a horse waiting at the gates. You need to leave Camelot.’’

‘’Do they know what we are?’’

‘’I don’t think so, but they were looking for you. Be careful.’’

Three weeks later;

Ariel walked across the rolling hills, trying to ignore the snow as it whipped her across the face. She pulled the cloak closer as she reached a small cave. Losing the horse wasn't so bad, now she had a chance to analyse her new abilities. She had spent her time feeding on forest animals, perfecting the art and getting used to the taste; seeing how amazing her senses were now - able to hear a birds wings beating and she was able to see in darkness like it was high noon.

Ariel was shocked when she saw Gwaine appear, somehow knowing where he was. ''Are you hurt?'' She demanded, running over to him.

''No, no.'' He laced his fingers with hers and began pulling her along. ''We are alone in this.''

''No. We have each other.''
