HAPPY MOTHERS DAY, but to who?

August 18th, Guy's POV

I sat calmly on my throne with Raine and Mizeri at each side. Honestly, keeping the two of them close was best after their offer to switch sides on me.

If either of them tried to serve Rimuru, they were dead. I didn't care what that damned dragon had to say about it either.

"Are you upset about something?" Raine turned to me with an all too sweet voice, intentionally berating me for letting my demeanor slip out in my aura.

So I responded by lightly burning the ground at her feet, before moving on to containing myself. Though it was difficult with an odd request I'd got some two weeks ago.

Velzard wanted me to release my aura more, and said it'd be 'healthier' for me.

It was a boldfaced lie, I was fully aware she had ulterior motives.

Especially because of what she'd been working on. Four large crystals made with Ice-Prison, which contained engrained skills which were keeping up a barrier above a magisteel plate.

Inside the barrier I could clearly sense her aura and mine, but anything else was filtered out.

Obviously it left me suspicious.

Working with skills, or True Dragon Magic generally always caused concern. Those abilities were never to be used lightly. The fact she was bringing them forth at all either spelled disaster or a massive headache; probably both.

Luckily I had an advantage this time around. It wouldn't be like one of her unannounced trips to another world. This time I had two perfectly capable Demon Lords to give me their appraisal of the situation.

"Raine, Mizeri." I put up a simple anti-perception barrier around us, and any of my subordinates would know better than to intrude. "What do you make of Velzard's recent behavior? What of this project she's taken to?"

"I'm unaware what you're speaking of, Mi'lord." Raine was being sweet again, intentionally trying to get under my skin.

"I've not seen Mistress Velzard in days, and I've not been able to perceive anything you're implying." Mizeri's response, though, was more suspicious. It stunk clearly of foul play.

I leaned forward slightly and clasped my palms together, while feeling the buzz of my own aura burn around me. "Nothing? Nothing? You've really seen nothing? Not detected the massive chamber bored out under the castle? Those giant crystals? None of it?"

"I'm sure if such a thing could be perceived, we'd have seen it." The green primordial always appeared calmer, but it was a lie. A trick to deceive. I could see past it, she was frustrated that I'd been able to perceive something she couldn't.

Raine meanwhile appeared to become curious. "Oh, that sounds interesting. Such a place would be a good background for an art piece, don't you think? If you plan to intrude, take me with you, Mi'lord."

"Useless." I sighed while leaning back on my throne. Of course I could perceive it clearly, Velzard had wanted me to. The only choice was to confront her personally. Whatever it was, I could handle it.

I considered just exactly how to do that, and I knew it'd best be done as a soft prying question the next time we met. I shouldn't appear desperate, not in front of her. I addressed the other two a moment later, "Leave, you have duties to attend."

Then dispelled the anti-perception barrier.
