You trudged through your second day at school. After Wendy had yelled at you she sort of disappeared, you hadn't seen her yet today. For fear of her appearing you kept your distance from Stan, even during lunch. You only talked to Kyle, Kenny and Cartman. It wasn't until English when you realized you had to acknowledge Stan eventually. You took your seat next to him and stared ahead. He awkwardly did the same. It was two minutes before you shifted towards him and opened your mouth only to be cut off by your teacher.
"Okay, class, we're doing another group project. You and another student will be studying a Shakespearean play and giving a presentation next Friday. You'll even have to act out a small excerpt. And I want real acting. Let's not repeat any slam poetry incidents. I'm going to choose your partners (the class groaned) and when you've decided on your play you may come up to me and tell me what you're doing." The teacher pulled out a cup filled with Popsicle sticks and sorted through them. She pulled out two and read the names written in the sticks. You crossed your fingers under the table, not Stan, not Stan, death by Wendy doesn't sound fun...
"Stan and Kelsey." The teacher called. Stan looked around. A girl with red hair raised her hand.
"Kelsey moved last week." She said, scratching the back of her neck. The teacher gave herself a little smack on the head, rolled her eyes at herself, and fished through the Popsicle sticks. She pulled one out and...
"(Y/N)." She said. You grimaced. As fun as working with Stan would be, Wendy would not listen to reason, even if she knew the two of you were working on an assigned project. Stan turned and gave you a small crooked smile. You fake-smiled back and nodded at the teacher. She nodded back and continued to pull out names. Once she was finished you turned to Stan.
"Do you have any ideas of what play you want to study?" You asked him, taking out your notebook so you could write down ideas.
"I guess... Romeo and Juliet?" He questioned. It was obvious he didn't know much about Shakespeare.
"Everybody's going to want to do Romeo and Juliet. How about one of his other ones?" Stan scratched the back of his head trying to come up with ideas.
"Um... How about Taming of the Shoe?" Stan said awkwardly. You giggled.
"Taming of the Shrew. That's a good one, actually one of my personal favorites, do you want to do that one or should we brainstorm more?" You wrote down Taming of the Shrew in your notebook. Stan shook his head.
"This sound good to me." He mirrored your action of taking out a notebook and pencil and opening to a new page.
"Do you have any clue what Taming of the Shrew is about?" You asked him, beginning to scribble some notes about the play.
"Um... I know there's fairies..." He said, scratching his chin with his pencil. You giggled.
"Wrong Shakespeare play. Taming of the Shrew is about a man named Petruchio trying to marry a rich girl, Katherine, who happens to be a raging bitch. At the time he was really only marrying her for her money and manipulating her father into believing he was really in love with her so that he can get some of her money and friends of his can get to Katherine's younger sister, Bianca, who is very kind. Petruchio marries Katherine and Bianca marries a younger rich man she likes and then in the end Katherine and Petruchio actually love each other." Stan gave you a blank look.
"Okay, then I guess you're reading the script tonight. So by research she probably means what year it was written, what it was based on or inspired by, and some major parts of the story with some quotes, yeah?" You scribbled down a few more notes before putting your pencil down and making eye contact with Stan again. He had another blank look on his face.
