For the first time ever, Rachel woke up early on a Sunday and was not grumpy. When Ryan brought her home last night, he walked her to the door and kissed her goodnight. He told her he would call her in the morning. Maybe waiting for his call was the ticket to her good morning? Or was it the overall magical night with Ryan? Either way, Rachel was awake.
She decided to shower so she would be ready for whatever her day would bring. While she was in the shower, her mom knocked on the door and announced herself as she stepped into the bathroom. It was a normal occurrence to talk while one or the other was in the shower, since the shower curtains were not clear, if they were, that would be just plain weird. "You are up awfully early this morning. We just woke up and I heard your shower running. Are you going out with Ryan again this morning?"
"I am not sure, he said he was going to call me this morning so I don't know if he has anything planned or not. Why, is there something going on I did not know about?" Rachel mentally checked to see if she had missed anything and it didn't seem like she had.
Her mom leaned against the sink with a grin. Part of her wanted to scold her daughter for not asking to go anywhere today, but the other half had to let her grow up and give her a little leeway since Ryan only had a few days home. "Not really this morning, but this afternoon around 4pm your sisters are coming over along with Aunt Lou and a few others for a BBQ. We talked about it last night while you were out. I want y'all to be there and invite his grandmother if she wants to come. Dad's going to have a couple heaters going and she can always go inside if it gets too cold."
"Ok mom, I do not know if they already have plans but I promise I will be there and I am sure Ryan will if he can. You know how much he loves your hamburgers and potato salad." After her response, her mom left her to finish her shower.
Returning to her room, she heard her phone beep.
You may want to close your blinds but you look great in a towel ;) Ryan
As she closed the front window blinds, she heard a tap on her side window. She quickly secured her towel and went to the window, knowing it was her Ryan, and lifted it. "Peeping Tom huh? You know that is illegal right?"
Ryan reached up and pulled her head to his so he could give her a good morning kiss. "And looking that sexy in a towel is illegal too sweetheart!" Rachel blushed. "I have never seen you up so early on a Sunday. Are you going somewhere?"
"Nope, I guess I just slept really well for a change and woke up all happy and refreshed. No plans this morning, but I do have to ask you what you are doing around 4?"
"I am not sure. I wanted to take you to the lake today since we didn't get to go last time. I know it's not swimming weather, but I wanted to go if you are up for it. What's going on at 4?" Ryan hoped that nothing would ruin this trip to the lake, not that last time going with Jack and Rachel to the museum was a waste; he really wanted one on one time with his girl.
Rachel felt proud to be on Ryan's mind and happy that he wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. "Mom and my sisters and aunt and a few others are coming here to cook out around 4pm and mom wants us there. She said to invite your grandmother too. I have to go regardless."
Looking at his watch, he realized that it was just now 8 in the morning and they would have plenty of time to drive to the lake, hang out then get back by 4. "How long do you need to get ready? If we leave soon we will have plenty of time to go to the lake and be back by 4. We will get breakfast on the way and have a breakfast picnic. What do you say?"
With one hand still firmly securing her towel, she used the other one to draw Ryan closer in the window. She went in for a kiss as she mumbled, "I think you better go home and shower because I will be ready in 20 minutes." She winked, pushed him away, shut the window and closed the blinds before he could answer. This is going to be a great day! Rachel told herself then proceeded to find the perfect outfit for the day.
