Chapter Three: Jason Martin

As promised dad walked in the room first thing in the morning, alone. "Morning dad, where are Alex and Gracey?"

"They didn't want to get up so I brought them to your grandma's. I thought about calling Susanna but I didn't think it would be a good idea until after you talk to Jason."

"Yeah the girls would tell them that I'm awake and that would cause a few problems. Dad, I need you to go get Jace. Tell him that they're allowing visitors or something just get him here."

"I'll get him here I promise Chloe." With that Dad left the room and left me to worry about what Jace would do when he found out.

Nathaniel's POV (Chloe's dad)

I left Chloe in the hospital room and went to get Jason Martin. I'm honestly scared of what his reaction will be. Chloe shouldn't have lied to him for this long. They've been inseparable since birth and now they haven't talked to each other in a month.

I arrived at the Martin home and knocked on the door. Susanna, Jason's mother and my wife's long time best friend, opened it.

"Nate! It's been so long since I've seen you. Come in we have so much to catch up on. How's Chloe doing?"

"Sorry Suzie, I can't stay. I just came here to get Jason. Non-family visitors are allowed and I figured he should be there first."

"Nate it's Wednesday. Jason is at school. I'll get him and we'll both go see Chloe."

"Suzie, if you don't mind I thought I'd just bring Jason for now and you can come in later. I think after a month apart that the two deserve a private reunion."

"Of course, I understand. I'll call the school to let him out, you just drive over there and get him."

"Thank you for understanding, I'll call you later to tell you when you can come visit." With that I left and drove to Gregory Academy. Gregory Academy is a private school, it centers around students special skills and also provides the necessary education. If a student wants to attend Gregory they need to decide almost a year before their freshman year. The first part in the process is to fill out an application, it involves essay questions where your answers have to be paragraphs long. Upon receiving your application the school checks your transcript and even does a background check. That takes about three to four months to fill out, send in, and be fully reviewed. If your application is approved you will be invited to an audition. At the audition you will showcase your skills for each program you showed interest in through the application. You are allowed to audition for up to 3 different programs. The administration will then decide if you are accepted and to which program if you auditioned for many. This is also when the decide who will be awarded with scholarships. Only 100 students are accepted each year and only 25 scholarships awarded per grade level. At the end of the year there is another showcase for each attending student. If the student did not show any improvement throughout the year or if their was a decrease not related to injury then the school will consider 'discontinuing the students future at Gregory Academy.' Each year only freshman are accepted unless there was a dropout or discontinuation as they prefer each grade level to include exactly 100 students.

Chloe's classed are centered on dance. All of Bella's classes were centered on art. Jason's classes are special though, his specialized classes are split. They're centered on theater and sports, he does all the sports he can; football, basketball, track and field, and he used to swim as well. He also takes theater classes. He is an amazing actor, but of course he doesn't believe it. If you ask him why he requested split scheduling. though, he always says the same thing. 'I figured if I enjoy both acting and sports then I'll have two options after I graduate. And if one of them doesn't work out then I have another option to fall back on.' Jason's very lucky though, the administrators try not to allow many people to have split schedules. It's only allowed if during the application and audition process the student shows great promise in both categories. Out of 400 students in the school under 50 were approved to have spit schedules. All three kids were awarded scholarships every year.

When I pulled up to the school Jason was pacing outside. When he saw my car he ran over. "Nate, my mom said you were coming to get me but she didn't say why. Is something wrong with Chloe? Please tell me she's okay."

"Jason calm down, Chloe's fine. They're allowing visitors now." Chloe is the only one who is allowed to call Jason, Jace. He used to be okay with anybody saying it but as he got older he didn't like it as much anymore. I think they like each other but neither of them know it yet. I wouldn't want to loose my little girl to anyone else.

Jason's POV

I was suffering through another boring English class when Mr. Morelli got a phone call. "Jason Martin please report to the office, you have a phone call."

Thank God, I hate English class. It wouldn't be as bad if there wasn't block scheduling. I have an hour and twenty minutes of English first thing in the morning every other day. The only thing that ever makes it worthwhile is that Chloe's core classes are the same as mine, but she's been gone this past month and I haven't been able to see her or talk to her.

Once I got to the office I was handed a phone "Hello?" I said in the receiver.

"Jason? Nathaniel is coming to pick you up. Have all your stuff and be waiting outside."

"Mom, why is he coming to get me? Is something wrong with Chloe?"

"Nate will tell you when he gets there. I have to go, Maggie's sick I have to go get her from school." As soon as she hung up I practically ran to my locker and grabbed my bag and ran outside. I was pacing along the sidewalk when I saw Nate's car pull up.

I jumped into the car as soon as he unlocked the door, "Nate, my mom said you were coming to get me but she didn't say why. Is something wrong with Chloe? Please tell me she's okay."

"Jason, calm down. Chloe's fine. They're allowing visitors now." He reassured me. I'm going to get to see Chloe, finally.

We pulled up to the hospital and I jumped out only to realize I have no clue where her room is. Once Nate finally got out of the car we started walking towards the hospital. On our way up to the room, Nate started explaining things to me. "Chloe mostly looks worse than she is. Her face is mostly healed by now but there are a few cuts not quite healed up yet. Most of her bruises are gone but the really big ones are that nasty yellow color. Her left leg and right arm both have a cast and her right leg is in a boot. She also doesn't smell the best all the time seeing as she can't actually take a shower."

We reached Chloe's hospital room and Nate had me wait outside as he went in to check on Chloe first.
