Lunch time rolled around and Emma sat with her friends.
"No I swear! He shoved the whole thing up his nose."Ruby laughed. As she had just completed a story. Mary Margaret wiped the milk from her chin as she tried to control her laughter at the thought of Killian Jones shoving a gigantic grape up his nose. Regina glanced around the cafeteria. She had no friends, no one to sit with. Her eyes focused on one person that she recognized from her journalism class.
She took a deep breath and strolled over to Emma.
"Emma." She said sweetly.
"Yeah. What's up?"
"I'm Regina. You probably don't remember me, I'm in your journalism class."
"Oh! No, I remember you. How could I forget. You're the first new kid to come to this school in years."
Wyatt, Emma's adoptive brother,
mumbled under his breath.
"And the prettiest one too." Though he mumbled , his words were audible to those at the table. Emma slapped him hard on the shoulder. He faked a wince.
"What was that for? Or did you want her for your self."
Emma's cheeks flushed red. As did Regina's. She tried to hide it by rolling her eyes. She patted the seat next to her. "Sit."
Regina smiled. She couldn't put her finger on it, there was something about Emma that she really liked. She looked into the girls oddly intoxicating emerald green eyes and smiled. What is it that makes those eyes of hers so... captivating? I've only just met her...
Regina shook herself out of the trance and realized that Emma was staring at her expectantly.
"Oh! Right. I'm sorry. I just got lost..." Regina's voice trailed off. In her eyes... She thought to her self. What?!? Where did that even come from? She pushed the odd thoughts aside and tried to focus on the conversation. But she found herself staring blankly at Emma's full pink lips as she spoke. Emma was oblivious, but Wyatt, Chris , August and Ruby all did. Once Regina noticed this her face flushed and she began fumbling with her thumbs. Wyatt smirked.
"So. Regina. You know about us... Time to tell us about you." Regina jumped out of her trance.
"There isn't much to tell really..."
"Do you have any brothers or sisters?" Mary Margaret asked.
Regina just shook her head.
"No, but I wish I did. That way my mom would have someone else to bitch at besides me." Emma tried muffling a laugh with her hand.
"I'm sorry. But, having siblings is not all it's cracked up to be."
She stuck her tongue out at her brothers. Who just laughed.
"Oh, I'm sure it isn't that bad."
Wyatt nearly choked on his root beer.
"Then you should try living with these two."
"Hey!" Emma and Chris said in unison.
"Wait. You guys are siblings?" Regina asked.
Chris set down the fork he was using to stab at his pizza.
"Yeah. Our parents adopted Emma four years ago. When they had Wyatt, they were expecting a girl. So they waited a few years and tried again. With still no girl, they pretty much gave up. But then, our aunt Paige suggested they adopt. And the rest is history."
Emma rolled her eyes and kept playing with her food.

After school, Emma walked out to the front of the school to sit and wait for her aunt.
She got so lost in posting and pinning that she barely noticed the tall brunette sit down next to her. When she realized she had sat down next to her her heart fluttered. She had no idea why.
She pulled out her head phones.
"Oh! Hey Regina. What's up?"
She smiled and pushed the stray hairs that fell in her face behind her ear.
"Nothing much, just waiting for my mom. You?"
"I'm waiting for my Aunt Phoebe." The two stared into each other's eyes. Woah... they thought in unison.
Just then a black Mercedes pulled up to the school.
"REGINA! " The woman called.
"Oh. That's my mom. I've got to go. I'll see you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow." Emma waved as Regina sped away.
"Who was that, Regina? " Cora asked.
"Just a new friend."
Cora looked suspiciously at her daughter's blushing face as they made their way home.
