"Well, Dan, that is quite the predicament you're in..." Zoe muttered.
"What should I do, Zoe?"
"I think you should try to forgive him." She said, as if it were the easiest thing.
"After what he did to me?!"
"Yes, Dan. You won't forgive him right away but you should at least let him explain himself and try to work things out with you. You have no idea what Phil's personal life is like, he could be suffering just like you."
I sat in thought for a few moments. She was right. I didn't know what Phil's personal life was like. It could be a lot worse than mine and hurting me, who he thought had a better life, was his escape. Not the best option but it's the one he took because it was the simplest.
"I mean..."
"Dan, I know you hate him with a passion but under it all he could be a really really great guy." She whispered.
"Yeah I know Zoe... It's just..."
"It'll be a while. I know. Not even Phil can expect you to just forgive him like he never did anything. He's going to have to earn your trust."
"You've got that right."
"Do you feel better now, Dan?" Zoe asked.
"Yeah... Yeah I do... I think, can we, maybe, go back to the hospital for now?"
"Yeah. We can do that. I have to pick up some paperwork anyways."
"Great."
We got up, threw our stuff away and made our way quietly back to the hotel. I could smell the cleanliness before we even got into the building but at this point it was sort of comforting.
"Hey, Zoe, I'm gonna go look for Phil, okay?"
She nodded and I made my way to the bathroom, where I'd last seen him. I pushed the door open and let out a gasp.
I found Phil Lester.
