"This can't be happening!"

"Yep. Dude, her scent is all over you. She's definitely your mate."

Jackson was sprawled out on my bedroom floor, exhausted from the push ups he was doing before I walked in.

"What am I going to do? You know if my parents get one good whiff, they'll be dying to meet her then the ceremony, and everything." I paced the room as a calm and collective Jackson stared at me.

"She doesn't know? Does she?" He smirked.

"No she doesn't know. I invited her over and then it happened so I told her I had to leave. It's only a matter of time before my parents find out. You know how important this is for them. On top of all that, I just met her yesterday. I'm not ready for a mate."

"Hale, you are. When I met Mel I swore up and down I wasn't ready but she turned out to be my mate and I accepted it and in the end I was grateful. She could have been someone else's mate but she's all mine." A smile appeared on his face at that moment.

Jackson is a year older than me so he met his mate last year. I just turned eighteen last night. I didn't expect my mate to be my neighbor. I didn't even know until she walked her beautiful self over to the pack house.

Leslie's tousled hair and fuzzy slippers appeared into view and felt the corner of my mouth tilt upward. Her smile was brighter enough to blind the sun and cast the clouds far away on a rainy day. Leslie Summers.

"Did you hear me?" Jack brought me back from a trance.

"What'd you say?"

"I said just reject her and see if it works."

I thought about it for a moment. "You know she's in the same class as us and she lives next door right?"

"Oh. Right. Well you're on your own on this man, Melanie and I have somewhere to be." Jackson stood up and headed for the door. "Good luck."

What now? We have school tomorrow.
