Chapter one: Being one of the Ichinomiyas

"So that's it, honey. Mom's going to marry the head of the Ichinomiya Group!" Nao's mom said happily as she told her daughter, Yutaka Nao, this happy news. Nao, on the other hand just sat on the sofa, dumbfounded. Her eyes widened in shock as she gaped like a fish. Nao looked at her mom.

"Mom, you sure? The head of Ichinomiya Group? The group who has the most famous hotel here in Japan, Tres Spades?" Nao threw the question to her mom in a total shock. Her mom nodded happily, answering her daughter's stupid question. Nao slapped her forehead, hard.

"But how!? We are only commoners compared to them, the rich and famous family. They are upper-class people, Mom!" Nao stubbornly not wanting to believe the news her mom had just told her. Nao's mom fidgeted her fingers nervously as she told her daughter her story.

"Well, Mr. Ichinomiya was walking through the hotel and saw me there. You know that Mom works in the hotel's boutique right? He told me that he fell in love at the first sight. I don't want to believe in his words at first. I mean, who would believe in that lie? But he said it was true and he comes to see me every day, gives me gifts every time, and asks me to go on a date with him, and all those romantic things you do in high school. I couldn't say no after I realized I too have feelings for him. He proposed to me last night so I said yes!" Nao's mom explained way too excited to her daughter. Nao shook her head in disbelief as soon as she heard her mom's story.

"Mom, what am I going to do? I thought you said you will never marry someone after dad passed away! I thought you love him?" Nao said angrily at her mom. Her mother looked so shocked at her daughter's response. She looked at her daughter's eyes.

"Nao, if you are really against the marriage I could turn down his proposal now..." Nao's mom looked so down and sad as she took out her cell phone. Nao looked at her mother, sad and pained because she couldn't be with the one she loves. She snatched away her mother's phone and her mom looked at Nao in confusion. She hung down her head and looked down on the floor.

"I'm sorry for what I have said earlier, Mom. I didn't mean to shout at you like that nor did I mean to hurt your feelings. It's just too much to take in, you being married to a famous family like the Ichinomiyas, it's too much for me. If marrying him makes you happy then it's okay as long as you are happy." Nao said as she felt bad for what she had done to her mom.

'What am I doing, hurting her feelings like that when she's just too happy about getting married... I'm such a useless daughter.' Nao blamed herself. She felt a pair of arms surrounding her in a loving embrace. She looked up to see her mother hugging her lovingly.

"Thank you for being so considerate, Nao. I know it's a little too much to take in. I'm sorry for not considering your feelings, honey." Her mom said in a really soft tone as she hugged her daughter. Nao couldn't help but smile and hug her mother back. She leans her head against her mother's shoulder.

"I'm sorry for being rude to you, Mom. I know you must have really loved him so much that you are willing to marry him. I wish for your happiness, Mom." Nao apologized and her mom smiled. She broke free from the embrace and looked at her daughter's eyes.

"I'm so glad to have you, Nao."

"Same here."

"Anyway, I have another news for you, dear." She said which made Nao eyed her mother suspiciously.

"Mr. Ichinomiya invited us to a dinner tonight. He said he wants to see you, Nao." Nao's mom said innocently with a smile and Nao just could stare at her mother in disbelief. Nao's mom is aware of what will happen next-
