As we entered a room, I heard around 4 people. I slowly tried to open my eyes and now this time it worked, only everything was so bright that I had to close them immediately again. My head was under a big lamp due to which I couldn't open my eyes. A male voice said to me 'Hi Travis Hammock, I'm doctor Avery and i'm head of the Radiology department of the Saint Claire Hospital. We are going to check with x-ray if you have any fractures. This might be an unpleasant feeling but it just takes about 10 seconds each time and just 4 sets. It's important not to move and to hold your breath.'
Four people lifted me up out of bed and laid me on a table, which was rolled into a big cabin. I held my breath and wanted this to be over as soon as possible... I heard Doctor Avery count down from 3 to 0. At that moment a high tone at a very high frequency entered my auricle and I couldn't hear anything. Still I wasn't allowed to move my hands nor my head, because that would abort the x-ray scan. Luckily after a few seconds this high tone went away and I was rolled out of the x-ray scanner.
'So Travis how was your first session of the x-ray?' Doctor Avery asked.
'Well id wend pretie good. Ter onlie was a high toon in my ear.' At least my pronunciation hadn't improved over the few minutes. Maybe this just needed some time.
'Yes sadly enough that's just part of the x-ray scan and it's something we can't change. If you want you can take a little break but we can also continue to the next set right now?'
'Liets do this now, becose then we don't have to doe it aniemore!' I felt embarrassed for the way I was speaking. During the 2nd set most of the irritating tones came from the left side. My right ear didn't catch a lot of the frustrating high tones.
I have always been very sensitive to light and sound, well yes... let's do an x-ray scan! At least we were halfway and the seconds set was over. I was allowed to take a little break of around 10 minutes and Doctor Avery gave me a coffee. This tasted good after having had not even a single crumb of food for more than 15 hours. This coffee tasted like as if God had prepared a big steak on one of the best barbecues just for me. It was such a good coffee. Well okay, I knew there were better ones than the ones they have in hospitals, but after 15 hours of starvation everything is just delicious.
After I finished my coffee we got back to 'work' again and we finished my last two sets of x-ray scans. One from the right side and the last one was a 360 degree scan. The most devastating sets of all. It took 20 seconds and this sound just kept turning around of my body. I was getting dizzy of it and suddenly i just couldn't handle it anymore. I slowly heard the sound disappearing...
