Growing Up A Payne

Chapter 3

*Lily's p.o.v.*

I woke up in a hospital bed. My head hurts like crazy. I look to my side and see my mum crying. "Mum" I said

"Lily, oh my god" she says hugging me. 

"Mum what happened?" I asked her

"Don't you rememeber?" she asked. I shook my head. "You were in a car accident" she said. 

"What, I don't remember anything." I said

"Hey calm down" she said. I nod

"Who else was in the car accident?" I asked

"The person who you ran into was Uncle Harry" she said

"What no. Is he ok?" I asked

"Yeah he is he woke up a few days ago" she said

"How long was I out?" I asked

"3 weeks" she said. 

"Oh my god." I say laying down. I wanted to cry. "Am I ok though? Like did I brake anything?" I said. I still have to start training for the olymipcs. 

"Honey you are fine. You need a few more weeks to recover and the trainers for the Olympics know that. They said once you are done recovering you can go in and start" she said rubbing my hand. I just nod. Dad comes in.

"Daddy" I said. He rushes over to me and pulls me into a hug. 

"I am so glad you are ok" he says. I feel tears come to my eyes. He pulls away and sits next to mum. 

"Have you talked to Harry?" I asked

"Yeah, he is in the room next to you. I am going to go tell them you are awake" Mum says and leaves. 

I look at dad. He has tears in his eyes. "Audrey was in the car with me. Is she ok?" I asked

"Umm... She didn't make is honey. She bleed out in the car" he said. That's when tears fell freely. I put my head in my hands. I can't believe it. My best friend is dead because of me. Dad started rubbing my back. "I am sorry honey" he says. I stop my crying and wipe my eyes. I see people walking into my room. The first one was harry. His hair was a mess, huge bags under his eyes. His eyes red and puffy. He had scars on his face. 

"Hey Lilypad" he smiled and dad helped him sit down. 

"Harry I am so sorry" I say looking at him. 

"It's all good lily. I should have looked before I pulled out of the driveway" he says. 

"I am still sorry" I say. He nods and hugs me. I feel so bad. But it's great to have my entire family here. 

*Few weeks later*

I finally get to go to training and school. Harry is fine also. I still miss Audrey like crazy. I wish I wouldn't agreed to take her to Calebs. She wanted him to sign papers saying he doesn't want any custody of the kids. Now he won't worry about that. I am on my way to school. My mum has to drive me because my car is no longer working. So we have to go car shopping next weekend. We pull up to the school and I just look at it. I take a deep breath and get out of the car. Parker follows me. I walk inside and I can just feel everyone's eyes on me. 

I get to Aud- my locker. I open it and I feel someone stand next to me. It was Maxwell. One of my best guy friends. 

"Hey lil. How are you?" he asked. 

"Can I just have a hug?" I asked. He nodded and pulled me into him. His hug made me feel safe. I would never tell anyone but I have feelings for Maxwell. Only Audrey knew that. He is just really cute and always says the right things. He is very tall, has brown hair and blue eyes. He also is very muscular. He lets me go and I smile at him. 

"So what is new around here?" I asked. 

"Not much. Caleb has another girlfriend, but she is just a hoe so don't worry. You are now the new 'it' girl because of what happened" he said

"Of course I am. Walk me to class" I said closing my locker. 

"Yeah, I have the same classes as you now. They changed it so you have me whenever you need me" he smiles. 

"Yay" I smile at him. 

"After school want to hang out so I can catch you up on school?" he asked

"Yeah sounds great. My house?" I asked

"Yeah, i'll drive" he says. We get to our class and I walk in and feel all eyes on me. I sit in the back of class and Maxwell sits next to me. 

"Hello class. Welcome back Ms. Payne. I hope you are ok now?"
 she says. I nod. "Great, wait after class so I can get you the things you missed" she smiles. She then starts class. I heard giggles. It was from Beth and her friend. They were laughing and pointing at me. 

"Why are they laughing at me?" I whispered to Maxwell. 

"That is Caleb's new girlfriend." he said

"Beth, Heather please be quiet" the teacher said. They both dropped their smiles and turned around to the front. This will be and intresting day. 

*after school*  

"Do you know how many teachers asked if I was ok and that they were sorry to hear about Audrey" I said to Maxwell as we were going to his car. 

"Let me guess all of them. I know because I was there with you" he laughs. 

"Very funny. It was annoying though. Anyways to my house?" I said. He nods and we get in his car. We drive to my house. It was quiet. We pull up to my house and we go inside. 

"Hello Mr. Payne" Maxwell says

"Hello Maxwell how are you?" he asked

"I am good, You?" he said back.

"I am pretty good. What are you gusy doing?" he asked

"Maxwell is going to help me catch up on work" I said

"Alright sounds good" he says. we go upstairs into my room. We both sit on my bed. 

"Lily" Maxwell says. I look at him. He stares at me and then kisses my lips. I kiss back. We both pull away. Maxwell looks at me surprised. "I didn't know you would kiss back" he says biting his lip. 

"I never thought you would kiss me" I say "I have like you for the longest time" I say. 

"Really?" he says

"Yeah really" I smile

"Go on a date with me then?" he asked staring at me in the eyes

"Yes" I smile even wider. 

"Now let's work on your homework" he says.

"Ugh" i say and lay back on my  bed. 

"Hey get up. You need to catch up" he says poking me in the stomach. "We have SAT's coming up" he said

"I know it's the day before your birthday" I laugh. 

"I know," he laughs

"What are you going to do for your birthday?" I asked

"Not sure yet" he shrugs. 

"Well ok then. Just make sure what ever it is I can come" I laugh

"Maybe it would just be our close friends" he says

"Yeah that would work." I smile

"Ok that's what I will do. Just out close friends movies and some swimming maybe" he says

"Sounds great now help me with this" I say pointing at the sheet. He laughs and then starts explaining it to me.
