"Here's your grande double shot 5 pumps sugar free peppermint nonfat extra hot no foam light whip stirred white mocha" I gasp after reciting the whole order, handing the drink to the some-what snobby customer. As I turn around to see if anyone else is waiting for service in our quaint cafe, I hear my phone go off. Michael seems to have everything under control so I step outside. It's an unknown number but I answer anyway since I can never remember my friend's numbers and I'm too lazy to make contacts.
"Hello? Who is this?" I ask.
"Hey, it's Luke, uh, Hemmings from the music store," he stutters. "I was just wondering if maybe you wanted to maybe go out to dinner or something? It's fine if you don't but I just thought it might be fun?"
"Sure," I cut him off from his rambling. "I'd love to. My shift ends at 6, so why don't you come by my apartment at like, 7?"
"Great! I guess I'll see you then?"
"Yup, I just have one question."
"Sure."
"Is this considered a date? I'm just wondering so it's not like I'm pressuring you or anything."
"Well, I, uh, was kinda hoping it would be but I mean if you're seeing someone else like Ashton or something it can just be friends."
"Ashton? Are kidding me? We are just friends, I mean after seeing someone wet themselves in kindergarten it kind of ruins it for you," I wasn't totally oblivious to the fact that Ashton was considered cute or whatever, we were just too close to be anything more than friends.
"Right, sorry, so I'll see you at 7, Miss Alex Swift?" I could practically see his smirk.
"Whatever you say, Dr. Fluke," I grinned and hung up.
------
"Omg, I'm freaking out!" I exclaimed to my friend, Jessica, who was helping me get ready. "Did I seriously agree to go out on a date? That's sooooo not like me! What happened? Why did I say yes?"
"I mean this in the most polite way possible, but shut up!" Jess cut me off from my ramble. "You obviously like him and he likes you so make the best of it. You're lucky you probably have a boyfriend while I'm chasing after I guy who doesn't have a clue who I am."
"Wait, what? He might be my boyfriend? Am I ready for this?" I was seriously freaking out.
"Sorry, shouldn't have said that consider you freak out at every little thing. Let's just figure out what you should wear tonight." She always knew how to calm me down (after getting me worked up about something, of course).
After discussing the very few details I knew about this mysterious date, we finally decided on a cute, but very short black dress with a deep neckline. Jess put on my make-up and left just a couple minutes before he arrived. I felt so awkward fiddling with my fingers in the skin tight dress that made me feel like I was over doing it.
A knock on the door made me jump since I had been lost in my thoughts and nervousness. I opened the door to show a dashing Luke wearing a button down shirt, black skinny jeans (they were ripped but that just added to the charm), and his hair quiffed back from styling gel. We both stood in silence admiring each other's refined looks.
"So," Luke broke the tension. "I was thinking that maybe we could go to a Chinese place of something?"
"Really?" I broke out laughing as he turned a deep shade of red. "In this whole city of San Francisco, know for its China town where everyone goes for a simple bite to eat when in a rush, and that's where you want to go for a date when we're dressed this fancy?"
"Yeah, I was going to take you to Italian but I had no idea whether or not you would like it. I could make us reservations now and we could hang out until then."
"Sounds great!" I smiled, feeling slightly guilty for calling him out on the whole China town thing, realizing that could have been the restaurant in his price range. Sighing, I turned my attention back to him as we stepped out the door to walk around San Francisco while we waited for out table to be ready.
So that was kind of a filler (and a double update) I hoped you liked it. Comment if I should write about the date or not. Idk, so help me decide. Vote and share the story if you like it.
