"Hey Ash," after spending so much of my time with Luke in the past couple days, I planed a day for me and my best friend to just hang out. We had agreed to meet at the local go-karting place and I was surprised to see that he was already suited up and was talking to the pretty red head behind the counter.

"Hey, Alex, meet Erica, she's gonna be our ref for our race." I smiled warmly at her and tugged Ashton aside.

"Ooooh, she's pretty," I smirked at my friend. "Do you like like her?" I asked sounding like I was seven.

"Uh," Ashton squirmed looking really uncomfortable. "Well, I just met her, I mean she's pretty but I don't know, I kinda like someone else."

"What?! Omg who? Is it Jessica? You guys would be so cute!!! Aww omg I ship you guys!" I squealed they would make a great couple. Ashton just kind of shrugged and scratched his head. I got the message that he didn't want to talk about it, but that seemed weird because normally we talk about everything. We awkwardly walked back toward Erica who was fiddling with a helmet.

"Hey, so are you guys ready to race?" Erica's face brightened since we had returned.

"Sure, let me just gear up," I went over to the locker rooms and slipped into the padded suit. I walked out and shook my hair out as I put my helmet on. Noticing that Ash was blushing I tried to read his face but he wouldn't make eye contact, which made me think that I had done something to upset him. Brushing off the feeling, I climbed into my car and revved the engine eager to start racing and end this whole awkwardness.

"On you marks, get set, go!" Erica waved her flag motioning for us to begin our race and we were off. With the wind rushing past me and the feel of Ashton next to me helped me forget what happened earlier and just focus on beating my best friends' butt.

-----

I pulled my helmet off of my head and stepped out of my vehicle. After the adrenaline seemed to wear off, all my worries that something happened to Ashton and my friendship came rushing back. Realizing that I should talk it out with him, I pulled him outside into the alley way on the side of the building after we had changed and paid.

"Hey, so I think we need to talk," I started.

"Is something wrong? Did Luke do something?" Ashton's eyebrows knit together with worry.

"What? No, where did you get that? Wait, never mind that's not it," did Ashton overhear Luke saying something at the music store or did he just not like him? "Anyway, I don't know how to put this, but, did I do something wrong? I just feel like it was really weird today and you acted really strange when I asked about who you liked."

"Uh, well, I, I didn't really want to tell you?" He didn't seem sure at all.

"Come on, Ash, I know that isn't true, we always tell each other everything."

"I just, I don't, I-" He stuttered.

"Ashton, you can tell me anything, we have to trust each other, we have known each other since we were practically born." He took a deep a breath and ran his hand through his hair.

"Forgive me," Ashton mumbled.

"Wha-" I was cut off when Ashton's lip met mine. I immediately pushed his chest away from him. "What the heck!? Ashton, I have a boyfriend! We are friends, nothing more! Where did that even come from? I mean, I thought you had a thing for Jessica!"

"Alex, it has been you since freshman year in high school! Can't you see that? I love you and I know you better than anyone else. We are meant to be, it has, is, and will always be you."

"What? Ash, no, we are friends, and that is it, I have I boyfriend. You are the one who used to have all the relationships, it was me who didn't have anyone."

"Yeah, but they never lasted because I would end up comparing them to you and they would never live up to you."

"Ashton, I can't deal with this right now, we have always just been friends and I just don't see you that way. I'm happily with Luke and why haven't you told me before? You know what I just have to go." I ducked my face and ran away, getting in my car. Shaking my head, I tried to clear my thoughts. What was I going to do? I decided to just be honest and started driving to the music store to talk to Luke.

So, I'm back to writing since my school is on a break right now. Sorry it took so long, but I hope you like it. Also sorry about how the chapter ended, I know it is weird but I was going to stop it earlier and have a cliff hanger but this way there isn't as much of a need to write the next chapter because I don't know when I'll have time. Thanks to anyone who is reading this!
