Bellamy took Artemis' hand and held it comfortably within his larger one for the rest of the journey. This was it, they were going home. The fight for survival was over and everyone could live in peace once more. Bellamy had dreamt of the time that he could just sit and hold Artemis without anything else getting in the way. Now he could. There was nothing in the way anymore, he didn't have to worry about losing her, he didn't have to disappear the next day, they didn't have to go and fight, they could just sit in his tent and enjoy each other's presence.
Abbey was waiting with Kane at the gates along with the families of the missing people. They all ran to each other except for Kane, Abbey, Bellamy and Artemis. Bellamy and Artemis stood just outside the camp, their eyes fixed on Abbey's and Kane's. Kane gave a small smile and a bow of his head to Artemis before heading back inside the ship. Abbey hesitated a brief moment before following Kane. Artemis' heart sank in her chest, she hoped that Abbey would acknowledge what she had done, to say thank you, just something. Bellamy placed a soft kiss on her temple,
"come on" he smiled taking her hand. She smiled back to him and let him led her to his tent.
As she curled up in Bellamy's strong arms she realised that Abbey's gratitude wasn't that important after all. She had all she needed and wanted right here. Maybe things were going to turn out alright after all.
