{Her family was great. She was the middle child. She was the one most overlooked. She didn't cause problems.}
Arabella got off the bus and walked the path that leads to her two story house. Her older brother, Mason, was outside mowing. She waved to him and he waved back. Arabella walked inside and set her book bag down on the countertop while her little sister ran to hug her.
"Hey Ara!" She screeched. "Hi Lilith" Arabella said with a smile and hugged her back. "Where's dad?" She asked her little sister. Lilith shrugged and ran upstairs. Arabella walked around the kitchen and peaked around the corner to the living room. Her mom came up behind her and scared her.
"Hey! How was school?" Her overly excited mom said. She asked the same question everyday for the past 13 years.
"Hi. It was good" that was Arabella's answer every time. Mason walked in and carried Lilith around like a monkey and set her down on the couch.
"Mom! Mom! What's for dinner?" He yelled from across the hall. He wasn't very polite.
"Lasagna!" Her mom yelled back almost in Arabella's ear. She winced as her mother yelled.
Arabella walked up the carpeted stairs to the hallway with her well sized room and headed for it.
She twists the knob to the door and pushed it open. Her room was dull and had white walls and polished dark wood planks as flooring. Her bed was a basic twin with a light blue and golden yellow comforter. It was in front of her window. She had only one window which she kept open most of the time. She had a vanity in the corner and a small flat screen on her wall.
[Arabella's P.O.V.]
I walk over to my bed and fall down with my face against it. So tired, but only two months left of school! I pulled out my note book to look at the eyes again. There was no doubt about it. They were his. That guy, the guy who had ran into me twice in one day. It couldn't mean anything could it? But what if it did? Nah! It couldn't. I push away my thoughts and walk downstairs for dinner. The smell of lasagna was getting stronger every step I took. My mom and Lilith were stirring what looked like pudding. Pudding? We haven't had that in a while! It'd be better if we had cookies. But no, 'cookies are bad', I think in a mocking tone. I guess pudding will be alright as long as it wasn't vanilla."Arabella! Dinners ready!" My mother calked for me.
"Ok" I say. The blue eyed boy slips into my head again. Why can't I stop thinking about him. I push away these thoughts once more and sit down at the table. Lilith is the only one eating besides me. Mason is talking on the phone about how great his day was and how he's going sky diving this weekend. Mom is trying to get him off the phone and my dad just walked in from work looking tired. Everyone looks at him.
"Hey dad" Lilith, Mason, and I all said in unison. He just waved, got his plate, and walked up stairs to his room.
"Well then" my mom says in a annoyed tone. My brother hung up on his friend and starting eating. It was like this almost everyday. It wasn't a bad life. It wasn't that exciting either. It was just okay, reasonable, fair.
Decent. Yeah that's the word. My life was decent. I smiled at thinking this. It could be a lot worse. I could live in a family where everything was a weird activity. As I thought about this I played with the lasagna with my fork. I had eaten half of it but my mom always gives is to much. She was very over the top. With everything. For the first 7 years of mine and Lilith lives, she made us wear toto's. It was ridiculous.
"Arabella!" My mom yelled at me, "gosh did you go into daydream land?" She waves her hand in my face and I blinked.
"Uh yes ma'am. Sorry." I take a sip of my drink then pick my plate up," I'm done eating" she glares at me then let's it go.
"Make sure your room is clean then clean the rest of the house. Get your brother to help." She gets up and walks to me.
"What's the occasion?" I ask.
"Some of mine and your dad's friends are coming over this weekend while Mason is with his friends." I nod and turn the water on, washing the dirty plates. I grab a blue plate off of the counter.
Blue. Blue. Blue. His eyes. There was something so different about those eyes. His eyes had something that I had ever seen before. My eyes were definitely not like that. But what was so different?
